In my experience, I'd say that the Scratch-X might be a beast to apply to the full vehicle and then remove by hand.

I'd recommend a product that is pretty readily available at most parts stores (AutoZone, PepBoys, Advanced, etc) from Meguiar's called Swirl Mark Remover (AKA: Meguiar's #9). Again, it's not the easiest product to work with by hand but, I think it's going to be CONSIDERABLY easier than the Scratch-X.

My interpretation with the S-X is that it's more of a 'spot application' type of product. In short, a small key scratch or another small problem area. The #9 is definately intended for the entire vehicle (if you have swirls over the entirety).

Here's one of the problems with #9... you have to 'work' the product until it's nearly dry. Of course, applying over the entire vehicle by hand with this procedure (and then potentially having to repeat) may make for a VERY long day. If you had a PC or something like that, this would make the application MUCH easier and MUCH more effective. I'm not sure about your comfort level with a power tool around your paint but, it's pretty simple and, thankfully, nearly "Bubba-Proof". I say that not to offend but to encourage having one as it makes life SO much easier when it comes to application time. I have one and use it FREQUENTLY and LOVE it.

Also, one thing to consider here as well is that the NXT does have a certain level of 'cleaning' ability. What I mean by that is that it will conceal *SOME* of the scratches/swirls that you have but, probably won't eliminate all of them unless they're VERY minor.

If you should have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to ask... I know I kind of rambled on there and brought up several other points that I didn't have time to elaborate upon but, I think I've at least steered the ship in a generally correct bearing...

So, I was just sitting here thinking...

What year is your truck? Parked outside? Where do you reside?

I might be able to point you towards another product that might be a little easier to work with, is more readily available, and you could still utilize the NXT final step for protection...

Let me know...

well, i ended up buying the nxt wax and the Meguiars color x (the scratch x was an itty bitty tube, this is in a bottle), i figured if it wasnt the right product for me, i can always take it back. my truck is an 02 f150 (bought it on new years eve 2002, so i have had it only a year and a couple months), estate green. i usually park in a carport, its a daily driver, but i am in the midwest where they like to put piles of salt on the road whenever someone mentions the "s" word (SHHHH! dont say it!! they will HEAR YOU! ). i did not see anything called swirlmark remover (at least not by any brand i recognized), but i can check around a few other places. thanks for the input, its appreciated!

and wouldnt you know it....the dark clouds are rolling in. guess this will be a project for another day.

I'd be lying to you if I said that I knew much about it. It's a relatively new product from Meguiar's and I've not had a chance to play with it. I have, however, heard numerous good things about it with very little negative conotations.

Boss_429 might have experimented with this product and thus, I'm going to defer this question to him or someone else that's used the product.... stay tuned, someone will be with you shortly.

I have a Black 2001 supercrew. After reading through these forums the past two weeks i took one bit of advice, what works for some may not work for others.
I used scratch X on my entire truck (3'x3' areas). I tried the MF to remove, no luck. I used a new terry cloth and had great results. Then i applied NTX with a MF for removal. This worked great. I have used the MF to dust off as I work on a construction site.
My plan is to apply another coat of NTX, then see about top coating with #26. I also plan on picking up some detailer spray as well.
These forums were of great help and i keep checking back for more tips.
Best of luck !!

Spaceman,

There is a red ribbon with a "26" on the container, but you should also look for it to say "Meguiars Mirror Glaze" and "Hi Tech Yellow Wax".

Good luck,
John

The label will look like this bottle... of course, this is a 'gallon size' but, they make it in a 16oz bottle as well...

Check your local Autozone, PepBoys, or Advanced AP's.... most all of those types of stores carry the #26.

Good luck!
