Winter SilBlade Wipers

I know RP and a couple others on this board swear by SilBlade wipers - have you seen these? Price looks pretty good at $14.95 each.

I haven't seen those....

I wonder what makes those different than the regular Silblades?

Thanks for that clarification Mike.... I'm going to have to pass on your offer to move north... 3.5" of snow here last night is enough to make me want to pull my hair out.

HAHA! Yep... I'm certainly glad we don't have regulations that govern that type of stuff.... then again, they'd be useless to us as we get so little snow...

Good luck and watch out for the Fuzz...

I might have to try those wipers next winter, as they would have come in handy this year (and others). Thanks to our "brilliant weather people"............. we often times end up with 3.5 inches of "occasional snow flurries"!

Here we have 48 hours, a bit more generous. I forget what the removal charge is if they do it for you.

I'm always on time though - my next door neighbor is the city mayor and I like to stay on his good side

Back on topic - is there any disadvantage to keeping the winter silblades on all year? If the only difference is the rubber housing it seems like they would be good all-season wipers (unless they are overly bulky/ugly, but I doubt it)

I would be one of them others that swear by SilBlade wipers. I have just the regular blades and have had no problems with them this extremely cold winter, no ice getting jammed between the blades and wipers.

To be honest you rarely see people with “winter” blades, at least I rarely see them on vehicles or even for sale.

I have to say this is the best wipers I have ever had. All the others, even top name brands have sucked in the winter. If it was too cold out they would not form to the windshield correctly and miss spots when trying to clean the salt off. I would have to run the defroster for a bit with leaving the blades in their normal position so as to warm them up a bit or my window would just get smeared.

Not this year, and it has been much colder this year then last winter. So if you want to go with the winter blades then I am sure they will work great, but I would tell you the normal blades will work just as well…

last year i had wipers like this on my explorer. the boot does a fairly good job of keeping ice out of the blade, but they still didn't work very well for me. i found the boot would really catch the air flowing across the hood and the blade would just lift of my windshield. it seems like a good idea, but i wasn't happy with them.

Just as an update I've been wanting to join the silblade club for a while now, so I ordered a set of 22" winter silblades - hopefully I'll have them by the end of the week.

I'll post some pictures and a review once I try 'em out.

I’ll tell you what, the Silblades are so damn good that when I traded in my 01 for my new truck I took the Silblades off and stuck my old pair back on. I then took the new pair off my 03 and put the Silblades on the 03…

Oh, the Silblades are 8 – 9 months old, but work just as good if not better then a the new set on my new truck…

just a heads-up.....
Mike - thanks for the heads up! Glad there's only one adapter to mess me up and not a whole bunch

By the way - what color are yours? The site I ordered from only said "gray blade" but I'm hoping the actual surround is black (to match my black truck)

01XLT - reviews like that are what got me so excited about silblades in the first place - glad to hear they work so well!
