A Good Cleaner For Wheels

The brakedust on my Lariat is awful. I find myself cleaning them with a sponge and soap every couple of days. Does anybody know of a good wheel cleaner I can just spray on and hose off and not have to worry about damage to the rims?

Try this stuff, with a strong stream of water. Works great.

Sold!! I used to apply Greased Lightning to the wheels on my SHO but they started losing the luster after just a few cleanings. I want to keep these new wheels looking good as long as possible. I guess this product will keep the white letters clean too. Thanks for the help!

I have heard that P21S has the best wheel cleaners. I use Eagle One Aluminum Wash and am very happy with it.

We have this stuff at work that is purple and smells like crap, and absolutely rips brake dust off. Definitelly spray on, hose off......no rubbing is ever needed even if the wheels are black with dust. I will get the name of it tommorow. Our supplier delivers all kinds of stuff ("green stuff", wash n' wax, ultimate tire shine) all by the gallon/5 gallon/55 gallon containers and it is pretty cheap too. I got a gallon of "green stuff" multipurpose cleaner for about $12, and mix it 50/50 and it does an excellent job at cleaning the tires. That grime that is always left on the tires after they get dirty on top of your old tire shine is removed completely by the spray on - hose off technique with "green stuff". And the Wash N' Wax was $16 a gallon and really foams up and smells GREAT! I get the tire shine by the gallon for $15 and that stuff makes the tires look like they are clearcoated they shine so much. I'll get the name of the purple crap tommorow.

If its the same "Purple Stuff" Im thinking about it, you better be REAL carefull with it because it'll really work the finish on your wheels or whatever it happens to touch. Honestly, keep a good coat of wax on your wheels and just use soap and water. Its the best way to keep them looking good and the SAFEST!

Been using the Eagle One cleaner for a while now. Seems to do a better job than the McGuire's or Castrol, etc.

Anybody using the "purple stuff" beware; that stuff is a VERY strong alkalide and will eat the clear off your wheels...

Is this the stuff your talking about?

Im not even sure if its the stuff Im thinking of because I've only used it at a friend's and his dad buys the stuff in drums and puts it in his own spray bottles.

That is the stuff I referred to. It is an awesome degreaser. I keep a 50/50 mix (w/water) in my parts washer of Purple Power, and it will get the job done (and eat paint off of valve covers).

Learned the hard way to use gloves with it...

I don't use it on my wheels....lol, I always hand wash my wheels to get them clean. BUT it does work great.......I don't understand why they would make a wheel cleaner and brake dust remover that would be harmful for wheels, kind of an oxymoron if you ask me. It isn't purple power though, it is something else. I'll take a look and read the labels. It might not even be made for wheels though, but they are using it for that, and I could see it eating clear off if that's the case!

Dont use household or commerical degreasers!! Not only bad for the rims but terrible for tires.
