tire care

2 quick questions on tire care -

1st: does anyone know of a product that brings back the white on the raised lettering for tires? I can't recall ever hitting a curb or anything, but the white lettering on my tires is starting to fade (only 13k miles) and it looks like *****.

2nd: i saw on Two Guys Garage (i think formally Crank & Chrome) or some show like that last weekend on a tire shine product that is supposed to last 6 months. I think it comes in a clear plastic bottle and it looks as if it gives the tire a polyurethane finish?? anyone see that show on Speedvision or know what i am talking about???

thanks

Hey Jason,

My old F150 had white lettering on it on the tires. What I would do is everytime I would wash it is take some All Purpose cleaner or Ajax in the can and a brush. Rinse down the tire first, Spray the tire with the cleaner or pour Ajax onto your brush and go to town. Be cautious if you use the cleaner to not get it onto your paint, but also be extremely cautious if you the Ajax. Both will eat polish and wax like nothing. Ajax, being abrasive that it is, can also stratch the hell outta your paint. If you do get some on the paint, rinse it off immediately. But The cleaner is much safer by far. Once they are cleaned, nice and white and after there dry. Throw some tire dressing on there to keep them white and preserved. Cleaners like Pro Whitewall cleaner Concentrate does a awesome job of cleaning up whitewall or white lettered tires.

To help preserve the tires, with some dressing. Use stuff like Meguiars Endurance Tire dressing, or Pro s-92 Premo Dressing, both do a sweet job on tires.

As Far as the tire stuff that lasts 6 months supposedly, to me is sounds marketing hype just to get it to sell, but hell, it may last 6 months as advertised. I have never used it though. Hope this helps you out,,,,,,91

I use a product called Wesley's Bleach White to clean my white letters with. It does wonders on tires. You can find it at WAL-MART. Just be careful not to get any on your paint like 91 said.

Got get a Brass Brislted White Wall brush and use that on the white letters along with a good tire cleaner like Westley's Bleche White.

You can also use a All Purpose Cleaner like Simple Green on your tires. Just spray it on and let it sit for for a minute to dwell.

Whestley's is a GREAT product.

I use it in conjunction with a stiff nylon brissled brush... works like a charm.

Rich D, thanks. I found the link for that product that was shown on HPTV: http://www.enduralast.com/default.htm

its not for sale yet, but when it is available, I'll give it a try and let you all know the results. I'll try the Westlys Bleach in the meantime for the white lettering.....

Thanks All !

Remember to get a Brass Bristled White Wall Brush. They can be found at most places that sell auto supplies. They make all the difference for white lettering on tires.

After having used many products over the years I had been using NO TOUCH TIRE FOAM however after having used it for about 2 years I finally got sick and tired of it not lasting very long ,the overspray associated with applying it both on my wheels and the paint. so recently I decided to try one of the Tire GELS I have been using Black Magics Tire Wet Gel now for about 6 months and although as I found out if you apply it to thick it can be gooey. I have discovered that when using a Eagle One applicator curved foam pad to apply it in a very thin coat worked in very thouroughly it does not tend to attract the dirt and lasts for about 1 month depending on weather conditons. I have mainly been using it during the wet weather so I imagine it may last longer during the summer months Overall I am very happy with it performance and maybe when it is gone then I will try the Zaino that everyone speaks so highy of but until then I have been very satisfied with the Tire Wet gel from Black Magic.
