Meguires and Zaino are two diferent products made by two different companys. I would say they both do a great job but myself I like the Zanio better and in my opinion it last longer.

I put my last coat of Zaino on over 4 months ago. We have had a lot of snow this winter and ALOT of road salt. My truck has been through the car wash no less then 25 times and it stills shines and still beads water. I was able to a week ago to put some Z-6 on it, just a spray for some shine and it looked like I had put a few more coats of Z-2 on it, just unbelievable. People at my work swear I polish it everyother weekend.

APT Question

I am ready to do the Zaino deal.

In your post you said "Your light truck probabyl won't show much swirls so you can probably skip that step. " What did you mean by that? Skip what step?

Thanks,

Tom

Skip the swirl removing step. When your truck is clean and in the bright sunlight, can you see swirls or light scratches? They are harder to see on light colors. If you cannot see any, then your steps should be:

wash
clay
rinse or wash
polish is optional
Z1 (skip if using ZFX)
Z2
Z6

It may seem like a lot, but the Z1, Z2, and Z6 should take 15-20 minutes each. The clay may take some time, and waiting for Z2 to dry can take 12 hours in some conditions. A polish that you could use is Meguiars Swirl Free Polish or Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner which you may be able to find locally. Or, maybe a Harley Davidson dealer near you has S100 Shine Enhancing Paint Cleaner.

Remember that if your going to use Zaino polish you have to strip any wax that is on the paint. To do so they recommend using DAWN dishwashing soap.

If you don't strip any wax that is on the paint the Zaino will not bond to the paint and therefore just be useless. Like he said you need your paint it the best condition before using Zaino polish, but do NOT wax it, and if using anything that contains wax in it for swirl removal insure all the wax is first stripped using DAWN.

Good luck

Good call, sport.

Or fillers. Many swirl removers not only have abrasives to remove them, but fillers that stay on the paint to cover them up. The three I recommended do not, but many do. If in doubt, wash it.

Question What about Z-5?

Does this mean no one has had any luck with the Z-5 product?

Per the following quote from the zaino website "...Z-5 is the first non-abrasive polish that will eliminate swirl marks, fine scratches and spidering, without hurting the integrity of the clear coat... "

It sounds to good to be true. Anyone use it successfully on a vehicle that is showing some wear and tear?

The Z5 has fillers, like many other products, that attempt to hide those imperfections. If the swirls or scratches are bad, then something else should be used to physicaly remove them. On it's own the Z5 is a fine polish, but not a heavy duty swirl/scratch remover.

I have been using Zaino the past year or so. I use the Z-2 and ZFX, along with the Z-6, car wash, tire treatment etc.

I never really had a reason to use Z-5 on my truck so thats why I didn't bother buying it. Harley may use it, but I am not sure.

Actually, I prefer to use more of the Z5 on dark colored vehicles than Z2.

I just Zainoed the bathtub enclosure! I used Kaboom to clean it followed by Z1 and Z2. I will see how it holds up to hard water deposits and soap scum.
