Fords ESP Plan

When I bought my truck, I didnt want to buy the ESP and have it financed into the deal. I intended to buy the ESP later, before the factory warranty ended. Well, I just paid off the truck and was looking into buying the ESP plan for my truck and the prices were rediculous!! I want the Extracare plan for as many years and as many miles as I can get. I think the max is 7 yrs./100k??
the damn payment on the plan was higher than the payments on my truck!!!

So, my question is: Is there any way to get a better price on the Ford ESP Plan? Do they go on 'sale' ever? I just dont want to pay apx. $2500

I paid $1675 for a 6yr/100k Premium Care ESP with about 34k miles on a 99 4x4 Lariat. If you're under 1yr/12k miles from new, then it would be $100 cheaper.

or...

you could look into a third-party warranty provider.

Warranty Direct, 1source auto, Warranty Gold, etc.

Check out www.carbuyingtips.com for more information on third-party warranties.

personally, I've been looking into www.warrantydirect.com

dealer also has a significant markup on the ESP. You can easily get 1/3 of it knocked off if you negotiate it at the time of purchase.

If you buy it after the fact, they rape you as you have found out.

Bikenut,

Give Gene Louder a call, he works at I believe White Ford......I've talked to him several times about ESP's and he is by far the best price out there.

Well, how much do you think the value of replacement parts will be on your truck under the ESP? Do you really think a 7 year old $30k vehicle is going to be cheap to fix? And you paid off a $30k+ vehicle within the factory 3yr warranty? I would find it hard to beleive you can't afford $2000 for a warranty vs. $1500.

Anyway, I said I paid $1675 for 6yr100k Premium care $50 deductible inlcuding the extra $100 penalty for purchasing after the initial 12mo/12k miles. At 60k miles, I have had the dealer replace things at about a cost equal to my ESP. I have another 40k miles to go. For my situation it will work out well. It's a risk we take when purchasing the ESP. If you aren't willing to pay $2000, then maybe a shorter plan, or higher deductible.

Another place with great prices is www.fordwarrantycentral.com as they seem to have about comparable to Fordesp.com. Just checked it for you. ExtraCare 84mo/100k $50 deductible is $1690, plus another $100 if you are over 12/mo/12k miles.

APT,
$1575 for 6yr100k Premium care $50 deductible sounds pretty good! I think I would pay that!

BTW, my truck was $18,100 not $30K plus... thats my wifes car

The way I look at it, I have a free warranty until 36,000 miles and Im at 3000 right now. So I figure Im paying X amount for about 60,000 miles of coverage if I can get the 100K warranty.

I guess I was just thinking I would get 100k coverage for $1000 or less My mistake...

my warranty ended on 12/4/02. My truck still only has 31k miles. Can I still buy a Ford ESP or is it too late?

Sorry for the assumption. It seems as the majority of owners on here have the more expensive models (ORP, ext cab or screw, etc). Glad youfound something more reasonable.
