THANK YOU ALL ONCE AGAIN!
That is exactly what just happened to me... I ended up finding one local for $629 installed. When they got it out of the box, it had a very small dent. So they took 30 bucks off the price. It looks great on the truck, and I like the fact that it is weather proof. I am so glad I did some searcing before buying...

Peragon Bed Cover Disaster

I installed a Peragon cover on my 2003 long bed shortly after I bought it, and it has been a major disappointment. The installation takes some effort, especially if you do it by yourself, but is not unreasonable. It takes some fiddling to get the cover to run smooth on the track, and I never did get it to run as smooth as I thought it should.

The weak point is the hinges between the panels. Less than one year after I installed the cover, the hinges between the first and second panel broke. These hinges are made of the same material as the cover panels. The problem is that to open the cover, you have to push down on the first panel, which puts a lot of pressure on the hinges. In my case, the cover is opened less than once a week.

Since the cover was under warranty, Peragon did sent replacements for the first and second panels, but since everything is put together with pop rivets, you still have to drill out the existing rivets and pop rivet everything back together.

Well, two years later, I have another broken hinge. I now live in Tucson, and the combination of sun and road vibration is also, literally, causing the paint to fall off the cover. This is not normal for a powder coat finish. I have much older patio furniture with a powder coat finish that still looks new. This cover looks horrible. At least 10% of the paint is now gone, and a little more leaves every day.

I expected this cover to last the life of my truck, but it hasn't even come close. I'm thinking about a BakFlip now . . .

I sell tonneaus.

As far as waterproofing, it's sort of a crap shoot. The same cover may leak on one truck but not another. There's really no tonneau that's guaranteed not to leak. However, in our experience, the tonneaus that tend to cover the rails, such as Undercover, tend to be more water tight.

ahh thats too bad. My F250 came with a snap on tonnuea masters cover, theres like 6 broken off buttons but it still holds down good, perfect tonnuea for a ocntractor I'd say and it doesn't let in any water, I can spray it down rough and my stuff is dry

Pergon Customer Service Makes Good

I will say that after my post about the problems I have had with my Peragon cover I was able to talk directly with their customer service. After several discussions about my particular problems, and about quality control issues with the poweder coat that were resolved after I purchased my cover, we reached a resolution that I am happy with. You may have to be a little persistent with customer service (no different than anyone else, really), but they did listen to my issues and were responsive. I have seen other posts to the contrary, but my experience was favorable.

Unhappy I wouldn't buy another Peragon either

I read through the above posts concerning problems with the Peragon cover. I too, have experienced most of the problems discussed. In my opinion, it is a substandard product and I wouldn't dream of buying another one.

Ummm, I hope that Paragon works for you. However, if you Google search the Paragon cover, you probably will NEVER find a happy customer.

I have done my research on bed covers .I looked at bbak, retrax, pace edwards, and then peragon. For the money and locking up your tools or hauling tall items, peragon came out on top. I do not work for the company. I live in Canada. Also when I purchased my truck the dealer offered me the bbak or the pace edwards but was told that in the winter they tend to freeze up and would not open as easy. Also the price compared to the peragon was night and day and the peragon look was great. The only complaint i have is the washers that you use to level the rails with.It does look kind of cheap to see all the washers when the bed is open but other than that i think you may be doing something wrong with your install. I had no problems with the install at all . My cover opens and closes smooth . As far as water proof i have not seen my bed full of water as every one else is talking about. Anyway, if you read the peragon site, in no way do they state that their cover is water proof .They also advise you to put your tools in a rubber sealed container. So if you want to buy one, go for it. If not, then go spend more money and i will tell you, you will have the same concerns - if not, more problems and will have spent double the money. Every time i go to Rona or Home Depot, all the guys ask to see the bed cover open and close and they are impressed with how easy it is and they like the look of the cover itself. So with what ever choice you make, good luck and remember this cover might not be for you. I love mine.

So overall, it is not a good product. Thanks for the comments because I was just thinking of installing a Peragon on my truck.

originally i was ganna get the peragon but after looking around for a bit i decieded on the retrax

i didnt like the fact that it folded downwards/inwards so if u had boxes under the cover u couldnt even open the cover caz the cover would hit the top of the boxes and get stuck

i like the retrax its what wrks best for me and it is a good cover

My name is Heath Copp and I'm president and co-founder of Peragon. We've been manufacturing our retractable aluminum truck bed cover for 12 years. I’ll be honest - we’ve made mistakes. We cut too many corners to lower costs. We didn’t give our customers the level of support they deserved. We didn’t respond to criticism by making changes - instead we were defensive. I've been at the helm since the beginning, so these failures were my responsibility and I apologize for them.

At the beginning of 2008, I began putting every resource we had into an effort to significantly improve our product and support. Over the next three years we launched a number of incremental improvements, while in the background we developed a comprehensive redesign.

This new design first shipped on February 28th of this year. Our third-generation Peragon cover is an exponential leap in quality. We’ve rethought and retooled everything from the ball bearings to the packaging.

We’ve also given our support team better tools to serve you without hiding behind policies. For example, we’ve removed the restocking fee from our return policy. If our cover does not meet your expectations, we’ll refund your entire purchase price - including the original shipping. You'll only be out the return shipping.

If you research Peragon, you will find older reviews that are critical of our product - often with good reason. That was then. If you check the dates, you'll see newer comments show we're now doing something right.

To our past customers, please contact our support team at (877) 473-7246 ext. 2 for solutions that will improve your experience with our product. We’re committed to building a great reputation going forward, one customer at a time.

If anyone has questions, comments or concerns, I'll be happy to continue participating in this thread.
