Snugtop Question

Hi everyone, New here, but I'm hoping someone can help me out with an issue I am having with my Snugtop tonneau cover. I have a 2004 Ford F-150 with a Snugtop SL tonneau cover, and it's stuck. The problem I'm having it's it's not stuck like most others I have read where the lock won't turn, and the accompanying spray WD-40 in the lock come into play. Mine, the lock will turn, but the lock won't release. I took it to a mechanic that said the only way in is to break the cover, but I'd rather not do that if at all possible. Does anyone know a trick I'm maybe not trying to get this to release? Thanks

And I see it has a lip that prevents opening the tail gate too.

I don't know if it would help to drill the lock mechanism and save the cover but have to buy a new lock then? Might contact the manufacturer for input, or good pics of that lock?
