Anyone with a Spyder Industries Headache Rack?

These look great:

http://www.spyderindustries.com/index.html

My order from them has had some problems and I want to give them an opportunity to fix it. But I've discovered the F-150 rack is not mounted in the stake holes as advertised. I've been told the F-150 stake holes are too far forward and therefore the rack is mounted on each side with two bolts thru the bed rail mounting plates. This rack is very heavy and I'm concerned this won't be a strong enough mounting.

Neatest looking headache rack ive ever seen. Id say it would be strong enough if thats how it was designed, as long as you dont hook onto it and pull people out of mud holes with it

The rack itself is seriously overbuilt and I also have the half height rear hoop. But it wasn't packed well resulting in damage to the finish, and it was shipped with the wrong mounting plates.

I posted to several F-150 forums looking to see if anyone mounted one of these to their trucks yet.

The owner of the company was going to overnight the replacement mounting plates on Monday, but then yesterday I discovered the rear hoop wouldn't fit in the bed stake holes as it is 1/8" too wide.

Needles to say I am very frustrated.

I just watched their Video, and they say they are "Custom Built" to your specific truck. I wonder if that means the stake holes also. I say you call them on the carpet on that one.

Good Luck

I believe the only custom part is the bed rail mounting plates. The holes in it appear to line up with the holes in the bed rail under the plastic cover.

The owner is shipping me an entire new rack and rear half hoop as mine were damaged and were not the correct model for my truck.

So, yes it is custom built to your truck model.

While the style is nice & appears to be well built, for $400, the welds should be ground flat...i really thought the finish was tacky.

At least they sound like they're a stand up company.

Second rack came in and bolted right up except for the rear hoop which cannot be bolted down as the mount holes still don't line up. I've emailed the manufacturer hoping we can get this sorted out as this thing fits my needs perfectly.

I'm frustrated as I don't think we are going to find a solution to the rear hoop problem. The legs of the hoop drop into the stake holes fine, but the truck stke hole sheetmetal slants inward and the access hole is then offset.

There is no room for a bolt. I tried an allen head but it hits the bed wall too. I'm very frustrated with this.

Could not make the rear hoop work :-(

But found a $60 solution on craigslist :-)

Had to shorten and pad it:

Ready to go! Isn't that blue stunning?
