So I was all set to order a Bedrug and then I saw my father in-laws...in about 4 places the sticky back velcro has let go.

Is this normal?

Also his looks very dirty and he is a pretty clean guy...seems a good old duraliner might be the better option.

 

You can always buy more industrial-strength Velcro if it comes loose. I haven't had any problems for the year or two I've had mine in. Perhaps he didn't clean the bed well-enough before installing the Velcro?

I don't have any problems with it being dirty and I haul nasty crap all the time. I've even had oil spill out on the cover and sit there for a few days. All it took was a pressure hose at the car wash and it washed right out.


It's always personal choice---there are pros and cons to each, depending on what you carry. For me, it was the BedRug, and I haven't had any problems.

 

Bedrug is a good product for what it is. It's good for light to moderate duty. It's best to use a tonneau cover with it though. Most liquids will wash out but the nap can still stain. Leaves, twigs, and stuff like that does not wash out easily. If you don't use a tonneau cover, it tends to sag a bit after it weathers and it gets dirty faster.

 

Great point. The few times I've hauled stuff like firewood, cut up tree limbs, etc, it's been a pain to get out the pine needles and whatnot. If I didn't have my cover it would definitely be in worse shape due to the elements.

 

Ive had mine for about 4 years, when I haul steel, etc, I typically lay a plastic tarp down on top of the bed rug 1st- esier to keep things clean. The bed rug I give a 10 out of 10 to! never had a velcor let go ether...your situation is rare, but easily fixable!

 

Yeah his is out in the elements as he pulls a 5th wheel...mine would be under a topper.

I do like the idea of my knees not getting killed every time I crawl in the truck.

 

That was another big reason for me. We do a lot of tailgating, so having a soft surface is killer. A lot of people say "oh, that's awesome!".

Plus when we camp out for tickets in front of the stadium, I back my truck up in a parking spot in front of our tents. I always bring a pillow and just sleep in the bed...

 

I like mine, but it is covered. I wouldn't have put it in if I didn't have a top.

 

How much are you guys paying for these... I would like to get one in the summer

 

I just ordered one from Amazon for $379 with free shipping. A local place wanted $375 but they would install (so I'd have to pay sales tax). It's easy enough to install yourself, so it was cheaper to mail order it.

I also have a Snugtop truckcap on order ("Xtra Vision") and should have it in a week or two. Going to wait to install the Bedrug until after the topper is installed.

 

I love mine....bought here, used and it still looks awesome.

 

I think mine was around $380 installed and I got a discount because I bought an ARE cap at the same time. When I was looking there wasn't much variance in prices online or locally so I bought local.

 

To the OP, I tried taking my bedrug out the day after it was installed. The adhesive in the velcro strips stuck to the bed of my truck started coming off so I quit messing with it. I let it sit for a few days and it seemed to bond more securely. Maybe he tried to take the bedrug out before it had completely bonded.

 

Has anyone hauled mulch with their bedrug? Was it difficult to clean afterwards and did the mulch stain it much if any?

 

I've never had an issue with staining, but as TruckGasm mentioned, getting out small twigs and stuff is a little more difficult. It is doable, but it takes a little bit more effort than just hosing it out.
