f150fella08,

I have an advance folding cover. It may suit your needs. It folds (and locks) at both ends.

I've had mine for five years, and the only thing I've had to do is replace some soft goods on it.

I'm running a Downey LTD tonneau cover. I've had it since about 05' and it's held up really well (including the 37" of snow that piled up on it in one weekend this past winter). I like that I can tilt it up to gain access to smaller items easy enough and for the fact that I can roll it up quickly for when I haul large items, etc.

If this one ever breaks, I'll probably go with a Extang Full Tilt next time. I like that the pivot point is closer to the cab than mine is. Plus, it is much easier with having the option to unhinge and remove the whole entire cover in one piece. With mine, you have to remove all the bracing, etc, and store it.

Here's a pic of mine.

Stacked all the way back. You can secure the panels and drive around like this if you choose.

You can also easily have the cover off in less than 5 minutes - reality is probably three.

I have an American Roll Cover from TruckCoversUSA. I need to re-shim it within the next few days while I have time, but this thing has been the best money spent on the truck as far as functionality. Rolls up and only takes about 8" of space near the cab. Locks in place every 12". Option of keyless entry, so you can essentially toss the key and just use the tailgate to lock it up.

I also love it because it's so low-profile, both retracted and extended.

Went to show the key unlocking it in the video, but realized I had the wrong key. :o

Here's a look at how much space it takes up when retracted. Most people don't even realize I have it until I mention it.

Well - it depends on how you look at it. Sure - it's a bigger investment. It's listed at $609 now (the original - not the G3 supra). If a soft tonneau is about $300 - they typically only seem to last a few years, and it's time for a new one - so when you buy the second soft tonneau - you've paid what you would have for an Advance initially.

I've had this for five years. It's on it's second truck - locks on both sides. I just ordered $30 in replacement seals for it. That's all I have in it. I work with a guy with an '04 F150 and he just ordered his third soft tonneau.

Sort of like buying a grill...It took me three cheap grills at $250-300 before I realized I should have spent the $600 on the Weber to begin with!

but i see what your saying..might as well spend 600 for one thatll last 10 years than spend 350 every 3 years
