Opinions on covers

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a cover with my tax return. Can you help me find what I want?

I dont want a roll-up. I'm thinking the buttoned ones that have the vinyl top and support braces. I've been eyeing the Extang but I dont know much different brands, so if you have one, please share

Also, should I go with Extang, do you think it would be cool to get the cover in matching white or just stick with black?

im not keen on the differences on tonneaus. by roll-up, does that mean there is something at the end of the bed that retracts it or something? i just want a fabric cover to cover my bed. nothing fancy.

No, the TruXedo covers use Velcro strips on included rails that run along each side of your bed. Takes about 5 seconds to roll/unroll by your self and another 15 seconds to completely remove the rolled up cover from your truck.

I have the TruXedo Lo Pro QT and it works very well. There is a rubber flap that sits over the edge of my tailgate to seal out water.

I'll take some pics later to show it.

Well the roll up that I know of is the type you roll up yourself. I believe there is an electric type that when you push a button, it will electrically roll up. Now if you do get the button up cover, it will not last long at all. I mean if your looking for quality, I would go with a Velcro type fastner. I have seen so many people with button up covers and they just go to waste. If your gonna spend the money, you mine as well spend it once on a good cover rather then buy a cheap cover that will last 1 year and still Gotta buy another cover. That's my opinion.

try autoanything.com. You can look at and compare several types there. I have the Truxedo brand and I am happy with it. Got it off Craigslist for $150

I agree that the button ones are a waste. I live by the ocean so mine may have rusted quicker than most but it definitely wasn't worth it for the short time it lasted.

I think the black would be a much better choice than the white. Doesn't show dirt as much. I've never seen a white cover at all but on a white truck it seems like it would look kinda weird.

IMHO most if not all are junk- either the fit is bad, hinge assemblies are very prone to failure or, well the list goes on. i ended up building my own for about $800.

$800 is od. i spent $300 and i have had not 1 problem yet.
i mean if i had a alot of $$ too spend on a cover, i still dont think i would get a hard top cover due to the limited access it provides. just sayin in general. i love my soft tonneau cover. thats my opinion.

but im curious beechkid, did you build yours out of fiberglass?? how you make it?
