im in the market for a roll-up tonneau cover and the key word here is inexpensive. ie, <$400

a little back round on me: i go to school full time, i work part-time. i work 2-3 days a week for $9-10 an hour, it varies depending on my tipshare. i probably work 12 hours a week at minimum. i have the money right now to pay for my tags, shells, and stuff like that for my hunting trip on opening day of pheasant season, ill be hoping to buy the cover in november. i still have to pay for gas, some food, and entertainment.

i have narrowed it down to either the truxedo truxport or the access lite-rider.
after reading some reviews and hearing about problems with the truxport's latch i am still wondering if the lite-rider is really worth the extra $100. both got great reviews and the latch on the truxport is the only thing making me hesitating from buying it.

most people on here some to talk about the vanish or lo-pro so i want to hear everybody's opinions on these two covers, ill probably read some more reviews on both, and i have a while before ill be making a purchase. the only thing that might cut this short is if i see a truxedo or access for sale on craigslist for cheap, in which case i will buy it no matter what model it is.

 

I was looking at the Truxport but ended up with a Extang Express. I didn't want to spend a fortune and the Extang is great so far. I like the way that the latch is and how fast you can remove the whole tonneau if needed. I think one of the nice features is the spring loaded tension to keep the top tight.

 

I just installed the Extang RT on mine and so far so good. I was considering the Truxedo because it is a little cheaper. But ultimately the low-profile look and supposedly better reliability/warranty of the Extang won me over. I like you was on a budget, check it out.

 

I really like my extang tuff tonneau, and as JPK stated there warrenty rocks

 

I just ordered a Lund Genesis, lifetime warranty on all parts and under $400.

 

I have a Extang Full Tilt on my 08 Super Cab. I like it because it was only $265.00 from Jegs and it tilts, rolls up and it can be completely removed by one person in one minute. It is the best bang for the buck that I found out there......

 

i ended up getting a used access cover off of e-bay for $150+shipping. i just put it on and it looks pretty good. the only problem was the bolt on one of the clamps was a little rusty and i ended up breaking the bolt in half trying loosen it in a vise. so my passenger side is without a center clamp. im going to see what the hardware store has, and if thats no go then ill call agricover.

 

I just ordered my Full Tilt from Summit. They matched Jegs' price (beat it by $1, actually), and I had a $20 off coupon. Even better, though, was that I also had a $50 coupon on file (that I dodn't know about), and I won't have to pay for shipping, as I'll pick it up at the retail store. $184.99+tax = Smokin' Deal! (Especially since their catalog price is $341!)

Only bad points: 1) have to wait about 2 weeks for it to come in, and 2) it looks like the rear rail on this thing won't be easily removed to slide big stuff into the bed (but might not matter if it tilts high enough?)
