Retrax or Pace Edwards?

I am trying to decide between a pace edwards and a retrax tonno, unfortunately I cant go touch them in the flesh because they dont have local dealers. I was hoping the someone on here would have some insight on which is a better product. I am open to other recommendations for a tonno but these seem to be the best two in my eyes. Thanks in advance for any help.

P.e.

I went with the P.E. Full Metal Jack Rabbit, $1,241 at central4wd.com. Seemed to be the toughest I've seen.

Don't know if you saw the following:

Hope this helps.

If you go with Pace Edwards, get the Full Metal. If you go with Retrax, I suggest you get the optional lock cover.

How much are you looking to spend? I got my PE Jackrabbit on sale for under $700 shipped. I like it alot, you can't stand on it, but I wasn't worried about that.

It sits nice and flush, was pretty easy to install and adjust.

Here's another picture...

The retrax is just too shiney for me, I'd guess it'd be a PITA to keep clean too. I just take some Adams Polishes VTR (vinyl tire rubber) to the cover of mine and it looks brand new!

I'm a big fan of the P.E. bed cover...leaks a little around the tailgate but not enough to make a difference...Paid about $700 for mine as well...

Got a couple of pictures in my gallery, however, it looks just like NCSU's...

Thanks for all the feedback, i really appreciate it. So it looks like im going with Pace Edwards, would you recommend the full metal or simply the jack rabbit. Im willing to pay for either, whichever is a better product.

If cost isn't an issue, I'd say go full metal! I think it almost doubles your costs, that's the only reason I didn't go for it.

I looked at the pace edwards full metal and the retrax, but in the end went with the truck cover usa cover, from the dealers i talked to who sold multiple rolling covers, they all recomended this one and most had it on their own trucks

Mine has been on for a month so far and I love it.

If you don't want a Retrax and you prefer the PE Jack Rabbit over the PE Full Metal Jacket, then you need to look at a RollNLock, it's much nicer looking than the Jack Rabbit. Both the Jack Rabbit and the RollNLock are vinyl covered aluminum.

I went with the full metal jacket and like it with the exception that it doesnt stayed closed in the lock position when I drive. Im sure it was an instalation error. Other than that I am very satisfied with the product

ReTraxx

I have the retraxx installed on my Mark LT, and love it. $972 installed. It has a lock, and I like the fact that it is completely concealed. The storage for when it's rolled up is under the cover, it does take about a foot of your bed away. Most people don't know it's there unless you can look down onto the bed.

I think as far as quality goes you can't beat a Retrax. You pay for what you get. Depends on what you like and if you need it to lock at any position or just every so many inches. I have done my research and have decided on the Retrax. Just waiting on the money thing as usuall. The retrax includes: no spring loaded, locks in every position, one piece composite, waxable, sealed ball bearings, anti-bind bearings, no hinges or joints for crap to buildup in, doesn't rollup on itself. Once I experienced how smooth it operates compared to the others I was sold.

P.E. Jack Rabbit

I went with the Jack Rabbit, paid a little more than what others did, but I needed it fast. Still was only $850. I really liked the Full Metal, but I was too cheap, especially when you only have a 66" bed. It took less than 2 hours to install and it works great. No bad weather yet, but I will let you know how it does when we get some.

Hello, Just noticed your mess, about the Pace-Edwards bed-liners. I myself had purchased the (Remote control) through Lordco auto parts located in British-Columbia. I researched all of what Lordco offered through samplers. (Yes, it was the most costly, but No maintenance whatsoever.) I purchased it for my 2008 Silverado. My main thought was, when winter comes will I be able to get access.

Since I purchased it through my company, Lordco gave me 10% off. Without the 10% off, the unit was well over $2000 after taxes.
My neighbor next door has a cover, you may have seen them they have to hydraulic shocks. With having this unit, the one with the hydraulic shocks, can't put items like dressers cabinets where they absolutely limit you to a certain height. It is well worth your investment, even if you were to sell your truck, could either sell the unit with the truck, or keep it for your next truck.

As in their instruction Manual, it clearly states never use armor all and or any other boxes on the exterior surf. Maintenance free, it is a costly investment, but only live once why not live with something you'd be happy with. If you have any other further questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me, at sky@skyviewroofing1.com
