Tie downs

I need a recommendation for tie downs. One of the bedrail stake caps is missing and i can't buy one from the dealer. I have to buy the whole bed rail cap.Now i've decided to just buy 4 new tie downs. I really don't haul so don't need anything that strong. Looks like Penda and Putco are the major brands, unless someone can recommend other brands which may be better.Thanks.

I'm in a similiar situation. I have tiedowns thru the stake hole caps that I want to get rid of. But I will have to buy complete bed rail caps just to fill in the holes.

You can't just buy the caps anymore? That's insane.

I needed one for the '97 I owned previously and bought replacements from the dealership no problem.

Some random thoughts...

Just about every one of them is the same color, Black.
They are all the same size from 1997- 2003.
About 700,000 trucks built each year, that would be about 5 million total.
There are are four or six on each truck, about 30 million plugs total.

None of these trucks have been wrecked?

Or if they were wrecked, the bed rail stake pocket cap plugs were all damaged beyond re-use?

And you want to be my latex salesman?

I don't think so.

hey RMjeff, did you install the Bull Rings over the plastic bed rails, or did you remove them? I just wanted to know before I ordered them.

I'm looking at some right now, they want $33 a pair for the SS ones (I think I can find a little better price than that if I shop around some more), but I'd pay it for some nice tie downs. I've used these before, had a set in my ranger when I was younger, they really are nice.

I dropped them right in over the cap. The base is the same color and when they hook is down everything is flush.

I bought mine at Home Depot. I think they around $25 a per pair.

I bought 6 of these tie-downs, but for some reason, I'm not too comfortable with tying anything heavy to them. They aren't tight in the stake holes so I just use them for my cargo net, although it was about -20 when I put them on. Maybe I should try tighten them up now that it's warm.
I think I paid about $27US at Cost-Co or something like that (per pair).
