I don't think it would work. This stuff is too thick. Get in touch with Durabak. I think they have one that does not have the rubber particles in it. It is the same company. They had a web site last time I looked.

Ok here's my experience. I did my truck last weekend. It took 5 scuff pads, as I was intent on getting a really good surface for it to bond to. I hosed out the truck at a power wash after the initial scuff. Next day, I hit any shiny areas with the scuff pad, then gave the tops of the ribs in the bed a final scratch down. Scuff well along your tape lines so the edge of the liner will adhere well. The pressure and heat from the scuff pad will also seal the tape edge really well.

The tape is important. Get the blue 3-M painters tape. No removal problems at all. Perfect tape lines. It's kindy pricey though. I used 2" wide tape. DONT DROP IT ON THE GROUND. It will dent the edge of the roll and you wont get a straight line. Taping these new trucks is easy with the bed rail caps. Just get the tailgate, end of the bed, and run some along the inside edge of the bed rail caps. The rubber bumper at the top of where the tailgate closes is a little tough, just pull it out of your way. I peeled the tape off after my second coat and it came off easily.

I took off the cargo hooks so I could scuff the recessed area really good, scuffed the hooks, then put them back on to be coated.

I coated the bed bolts and totally filled the bottom seams in the front corners and along the sides of the bed. I did leave the drain slots in the front of the bed open.

I went ahead and scuffed the tailgate, then removed the access panel. The scuff pad left a line for me to tape off so the panel would sit flat when it went back on. I coated it seperately then reinstalled it when it all had dried.

I bought a $4 metal "bung-hole mixer" (huh-huh, he said bunghole) from Home Depot to mix the stuff up. It worked great.

I used the whole gallon and will probably get another quart, but I put it on thick, everywhere. It's not quite as thick as a sprayed in liner I've seen, but it's close.

All in all it turned out great. I haven't used/abused it yet but I doubt much will hurt this stuff. It took three days before I could peel off it off from a couple of small spots on my hand. :0 As I type this I can still see a couple of little spots still left 5 days later. Make *sure* you wear those gloves. All total it took me, alone, about 10 hours.

Hope this helps anyone considering doing this.

Your all Crazy! Please don't be offended by my comment but I am just astounded at the compliments Herculiner is getting on this board. I've seen herculiner and would never put it in my truck. It looks sooooo cheap to me. There is no way I would go for anything other than a true spray-on. I myself am going for Rhino.

UrbanCowboy; How long have you been a rhino dealer? I think herculiner is a great product. Those spray in liners are way overpriced, they're making a killing,I mean way overpriced. Not me buddy.

Urban Cowboy and others:

I am not offended at all by your comments. That's what makes this board so interesting. Just think about it, if we all were as intellectual as CPhillip, Myself, and others, it wouldn't be any fun! Thank you for throwing in your two cents (I want a refund). Oh, and by the way.....welcome to F150online.com!

Well first off, if I was a Rhino dealer, I dont think I'd be trying to drum up business on this site. Its a good site but not exactly the best way to add customers to a store. Anyway, as I mentioned in another thred I am looking into Herculiner again but I dont know if I'll be changing my mind. I've compared the samples of Herculiner and Rhino and there is a big difference. I'll have to see if I can find a truck with Herculiner in full somewhere round Denver.

Urban Cowboy: I am not offened either. I happen to like the way mine looks. Everyone who's seen it has been impressed. Especially those with $450 spray-in liners I've seen spray-ins and they look good too. Have you seen a Herculiner in a truck or just the sample?

Cool

V10 man, I was just going to say that too, but you beat me to it. I did buy a kit for my Y2K V10 SD SC. I see that you have good taste also.

Question

Has anyone out there seen a Duraliner bedliner. It works just like a Herculiner. It cost $40 for a kit which includes 1 gallon. Each additional gallon cost another $40.
A friend of mine did his truck with it this year and I've been considering doing mine this summer but from the sounds of things here I might go with the Herculiner. I just wondered if anybody out there has had the chance to compare the two together.

Is that the kit Wal-Mart sells? If it is, I looked at it in the store. It seemed to me to be just a heavy duty paint, no rubber particles or anything in it at all. I could be wrong but I wasn't impressed by it.

Thumbs up

Just installed Herculiner this week. Great stuff! Did it a little different than the others though. Put it in the door jams of the tailgate. Looks really good. I have had alot of good comments about it. Bought a extra quart had alittle left over. Used one of the wifes tupperware bowls to keep it fresh and be able to open later when I need too. I could have paid someone to put in one of the spray-in liners but I like the do-it yourself kinda stuff.
