spray-on bedliners
spray-on bedliners
I am thinking of getting a spray on bedliner for my new F150 short bed. Any body have any experiences with these? Any differences between the many brands? I have both Line-X and Rhino in my area.
I think it depends on the truck's intended useage, in order to properly steer you into a spray on liner. I load lotsa steel in my truck, and it has cut the plastic liner to shreds. If it was a spray on liner, I'd be down to the steel by now, and have a lot of time spent repairing the spray on liner. When this liner is done, I can toss it, and just throw a new liner inside. But, what do you do with a severely damaged spray on liner?

I currently have a Rhino liner in my '97 ext cab stepside. I had it put in about 18 months ago, and I love it! Had drop in liners before-drop in the trash is more like it. It cost me $325 and took about 2 hours. It is soft to the touch, but really holds items in place. I put a gas can in the bed and drove around HARD one day. The can never moved an inch! So far I've hauled trash, rusted 55 gallon drums, scrap metal, furniture and so on. No problem what so ever. I will recommend it to any one. As far as the Line-X goes, I've never had one, but have seen a few up close. It is thinner, and pretty rough. Reminds me of sandpaper. I wouldn't want to sit on it, or haul a good piece of furniture on it. Take the Rhino. You won't be dissapointed. By the way, Rhino liners have a 5 year warranty(or was it lifetime?). Check with your dealer-but they will repair it free if it ever tares.

My 99 XLT should be arriving any day now. It's the Dark Wedgewood Blue. Anybody had a spray in liner color-coded to the color of their truck? What kind of warranty does Rhino offer in terms of the color fading (or does it fade)? Thanks!
Yes, it will fade. That's why I went with basic black. The dealer told me that if it were ever damaged and needed repair, he wouldn't be able to match the faded color. In addition, they want to sell you a clear coat spray to use occasionally on the colored liner to maintain it's appearance. Finally, it costs more. The black looks very good with my bright red.
I have a new Lariat in the Wedgewwod Blue Metallic and inquired about color, that post above does sum it up well, go with the black. That is what I plan to do soon myself. Man, I love the way the sun makes this color come to life! I am much happier about the choice of color I made at the dealership (Black vs. Wedgewood Blue), I have been there, done that with black, never again will I go through that crap again! As far as black for Rhino, that is another thing, that isn't what people aren't going to be staring at with our trucks!

Can't wait to see the sun shining off MY truck. Actually, can't wait to see my truck period. Due this week, but the week is getting shorter. Called my local Rhino dealer today and got all the info I needed on him spraying in the black liner.

I have the LINE-X and it has been great, you can ask the installer to make it less rough. They can make it rough or smooth. I went with the LINE-X because I have a friend with the RHINO and it seems soft. But I have slid all kinds of stuff on the liner, it has held up great.
I've got a 1999 F-150 XLT SuperCab 4x4 ORP 5.4 in Wedgewood Blue. I'm going to have a Rhino liner installed shortly. The shop also informed me that they do have a color that would match my paint perfectly, but most guys don't go with it... it costs more and will fade (at least he was honest). Black is the most popular color. I'm looking forward to having it installed.
p.s. Guys, just washed and waxed her this morning. The sun bouncing off the paint makes her gleam and this color blue is simply awesome...
Scott.

Zoku, IDJones, Fast Eddie,
Zoku,
We have the same truck except 4 x 4. Have had mine 5 months, got a Rhino liner in black. You'll love it. There are pros and cons to both type liners, drop in and spray on. It's a matter of choice. I made the right one for me without question.
Also washed and waxed and Armor Alled the whole thing. Didn't realize there were that many square feet of sheetmetal. I am physically beaten!
ID,
Have heard good things about the Line X spray in liners too. We didn't have a franchise close to me to compare. You'll be happy with a Line X.
Eddie,
You are right, black all the way. They look great with red, white too. The matching colors are not as nice as one would think and it's a lot more expensive. Gonna check "Off the line" now for that V10 match!

I don't really know much about bed-liners, but I do know I want a spray in one, most likely Rhino. I have several friends that have them, and I was just curious if the "wet" look costs more. Also concerning cost, what is the average cost y'all have paid(my truck is a stepside)? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

$400 + $20.00 if U want sparkel or other than black. EST. My current truck has no liner other than a rubber matt because why spend $400 plus on something that nobody see's. I have a hard Tonneau cover. Gary D

I will be getting a Rhino Liner next week. The guy says they have a grey color that matches the bed-rail protectors on my Hunter Green F-250 SD CC LB 4x2.
I'll let you all know how close it matches.
