spray-on bedliners
Line-X liner just sprayed in this morning. It looks great. Has a nice shiny appearance. it did take a few hours since the guy was working alone. I didn't like the part where they have to sand the bed down, looks really bad to do on a brand new truck.

LoganBoyd,
Sand the bed down?? Yikes! What part of the bed did they have to sand down? Did they have to 'rough up' the whole bed or something? It gets covered right up anyway, but they didn't do any sanding when they sprayed my ranger...
Thanks.

Yea, sanding it down makes sense... but I sure don't want to see it! HA! Maybe I'll take a walk down the road so I don't hear it, either.
The Line-X on my Ranger is rough, but I had the option to have them apply it smoother. The rougher surface helps 'grab' cargo better, so it depends on what you intend to haul (or not haul) back there.

I would think that the spray on liners arent worth it. Thats my opinion.

Guys,
Before any determinations are made on the different brands of spray-in liners, the skill of those installing them are critical and there can be a world of difference between them.
When I had my Rhino applied (no Line-X dealers here in NJ at the time) I observed three francises for Rhino's quality. The difference was astounding from absolute crap to sheer craftsmanship.
One dealer simply cut the excess away with a tile knife (near MY paint!!) to a dealer that meticulously used wire tape that masked off the front bed, tail gate, etc. The wire tape simply has a wire in it that cuts the excess as clean as a whistle.
Needless to say, you know where I had mine installed. It has nothing to do with Rhino, Line-X or any of the other spray-in liners. It is strictly related to who is doing it and their expertise.
I made the right choice for me.

Dunbarton,
Just a question, but uh, what color is your truck {f150}?

I like the advantages of both types of bedliner products, spray-in and drop-in. Therefore, I had the spray-in bedliner applied and then had a Duraliner installed. I get the protection of the spray-in bedliner and the "removability" of the drop-in. What I didn't like was the "slickness" of the drop-in. So, I had the drop-in sprayed with a bedliner. When I had them apply the spray-in to the drop-in, I also had them spray in the wheel wells for additional protection. This seems to be the perfect solution for me.
For me LINE-X won.
The one thing I would advise to someone making this decision is to see firsthand. I was lucky in that where I work one guy had a Rhino and one guy had a LINE-X. So I got to go out and touch it as well as ask them what they thought.
The other point I would like to echo - The installer makes a BIG difference. Visit your dealer before you purchase and check with Better Business.
Good luck...

Hawleych,
If I was you, I would go with the spray-on bedliner. Because not only do they look good, they help to improve your resell value on your truck. I have a Line-X in my 99F-150 and love it.

Guess what guys? I did mine myself using "Herculiner". Cost all of $99.00, and took me two days. First day one light coat, 2nd day another coat. WOW!, when I have showed the truck people think its either a "Rhino" or "Line-x". Lokks good and works great and better yet saved me a bundle.
Good luck to all.

I added a rhino when I purchased my truck, it is awesome compared to my old truck with the drop in bedliner. Noise reduction is awesome!
a friend works for Ford, engineering. he tells me that in california they have a problem with the bed resonating at a frequency which causes the truck to bend up and down in the middle, where the truck cab and the box meet. The solution so far is to install a spray on bedliner. The problem has something to do with the roads being cement, and not being flat, more ondulated. Anyone from California hear of this problem? they apparently call it the california bends or something like that!
