On '97 - '03 trucks yes. About any hard plastic textured trim you can paint like this.

I like your paint job, looks real nice. I too was tired of seeing my faded grey trim. I could not find any products to remedy this faded trim until my neighbor turned me onto "Liquid Ice wax" it does not turn white and made all my trim look brand new. My son did the same on his black trim on his Nissan truck and his Mom yelled at him for buying new trim for his truck! Sure you have to re-apply it, but then again I love to wax my truck. Twice a year I use the Ice liquid clay bar to remove all stains, bird droppings, tar and other paint imperfections. Clay Bar and Liquid Ice makes my paint feel like glass. You can use the liquid ice and any surface except glass (I must admit, I do use the clay bar and liquid ice on all glass except the front windshield).

liquid ice is a joke for wax imo, but if it works on trim thats cool. I would never trust it to protect my paint though.

My '03 just has some clips that you pinch to remove the caps...not sure how the 04+ trucks are. I used the duplicolor on mine - it's a little more of a matte finish than the krylon. Just a suggestion from experience: don't scrub too hard on the caps after painting - the paint tends to chip/fade off. But not too bad.

Man that looks good, I cheated on all the masking off and work. I just used kiwi black shoe polish, looks the same, had it on mine for a year, still looks great, no fading.

This is the one I used when I painted my shotgun in Krylons Camo Fusion colors for duck hunting. Used the flat, an been holding up awesome for 2 years now.

Couldn't you just take the rail caps off?

Sorry, didn't see it until after I posted it. It is a good write-up, and I plan on doing this for Christmas break.

I never thought of doing this because it's plastic. Now I will tackle it. Thank you for posting this!

I pulled off the plastic on my stepside and the bumper pads even the plastic antenna piece and the plastic pieces behind the wheels on the fenders and sprayed them properly in a paint booth last summer. They turned out amazing especially since my truck is black they blended right in with the truck. There is absolutely no bare plastic on my truck anymore since I change the front bumper valence with an FX2 valence and the Street Scene mirrors and smooth fiberglass wiper cowl.
