Those speakers suck and believe me they will be replaced soon.
I just purchased pillar mounted spotlights from Unity, I'll post the installation of those (going to be scary as chit...it's going to be like putting 3 holes into my chest...gonna close my eyes
).Thanks again, very nice writeup...best writeup on these LT handle installs I've seen yet.

That'll be sweet I assume you ordered the black ones to match your truck. Good luck I know I couldn't cut my door pillar.

Great write up. I did things a little differently also.
For the lock cylinder, when the door handle is removed from the door but still connected to the rods, remove the retainer clip from the lock cylinder and pull it out. Twist it off and set it aside.
The hardest part was getting the plastic clips off for the wiring harness.
Taping the door is another important step.

I would cancel it yet again and order the black ones if I could...but I can't.
Good job! I like pictures
.
This is good enough to be in the "Technical Articles" section.
I'd bookmark it but I'm at work so I'm posting to make it easier to find when I get my handles.
What happens if your keyfob runs out of batteries?

I actually eliminated the keyholes and keypad

If that happens I'll use my Ford Roadside Assistance and have them open it. Paid for it might as well use it. I'm toying around with a few other ideas too right now but haven't decided yet.
Nice write up and the only things I would add from my installation of the LT handles is:
1) Be sure the rods (that attach to each handle) don't get turned 180 deg - they will still reinstall - but after door panel reinstallation - the handle "action" will bind....then you get to completely disassemble and reassemble again
....I know this from 1st hand experience!!
2) You can completly remove and set aside (rather than leave hanging) the door panel by disconnecting the cable that runs down inside the door to the lock....disconnect at the rear of the inside door handle.
3) Duct tape around the lower edge of the outside door handles - you will be turning/twisiting the handle buckets to get them off the rods and it is easy to scratch the paint.
4) If you want to be "****" like I was with my installation and have the two door jam screws (just like the originals)...you can remove one of the door jam screw "buckets" from the old handles once you have removed it from the door....just start backing out with the tap of a chisel and then use pliers.....to install into the new handles simply install the screw and use a ratchet to bottom out in the correct hole.
5) Be sure to have Dynamat Extreme / TAC mat handy and replacement speakers so you can get it all done at once!
By the time you get to the 4th handle - you're going to be a pro
