some headlights are more of a pain than others, I'm working on doing my 3rd set and this set is a PITA!! Ford used more glue or sealant (what ever you want to call it) i must say its worth it!!!

I am having a hell of a time with mine right now. I'm trying to open and paint my old factory headlights to practice before doing it on our 08 Subaru Legacy GT.
There is a freaking ton of sealant and I have reheated it 2 times so far. Bah

I just purchased hella black outs online so I will be doing this mod with my stock headlights. I am going to silicone the Hellas as well before installing, just in case. If my stockers turn out perfect I may put them up for sale.....

No, Your leaving the round reflector part original....the big headlight one comes out and you tape off the parking/signal one

Does anyone know if Ford used the same sealant on all years?

Guys are talking about silicone?

Mine are not sealed with silicone. It's more like a plastic glue. You cannot even dent the stuff with your fingernail.

Maybe that's why some guys find it easy, while others are having such a hard time?

I'd like to do this mod, but think this glue will not come free.

That looks great...I think that is my next project. I should be getting a heat gun on Sunday from a friend, so I'll try my hand at this...

What kind of silicone sealent did everyone use? I guess silicone is silicone eh? I'm thinking I might go to home depot and get mines there. The kind that goes in the cartridge gun.

I drive a 99 F150 and i was wondering if anything like this is possible for me. It looks like the headlight case itself is the reflector since the bulb comes out by itself.

***WARNING*** Don't use any pressure to clean the chrome in the reflectors, I just took a big gob of chrome off the main reflector finishing up this mod

Just did mine, the silicone is drying now, Had a hell of a time getting them apart, but found that peeling the old silicone out the worst part. Cant wait to see it in the morning on the truck. One less piece of chrome.

Oh and BLACKFX4inTN, NICE POST..
