Found a 2007-2008 5.4 3v Flex fuel motor with harness. So from what I under stand is all I would need to do is put this in and have my tune done? Also can also get the ECM for this motor.

That is much more complicated to do. Sorry but these notes only cover the 2 Valve 5.4 swap.

JMC, after reading all the posts here I think your earlier assessment was correct. You should have just made the post and not answered any additional questions. You kinda dug yourself a hole with this one. But its a great informative subject and I have learned a bit here. I'm currently changing engines in a '98 Expedition from a 4.6 SOHC to a 4.6 DOHC and I find a lot of the info here is helpful. Thanks.

Exhaust: The collectors on the exhaust manifolds are set at different angles and locations. The 4.6 exhaust might not bolt up to 5.4 manifold. You may need to have a muffler shop modify your 4.6 exhaust to match up.
I'm switching from 4.6l to 5.4l s/c (L motor). If the exhaust manifolds are the same, just set at different angles, would I be able to use the manifolds off my 4.6l and have them match the exhaust at the correct angle?

Asp "L" exhaust manny's are different than NA modular V8's. Their a little larger.

          In case your unaware.

The 5.4 is wider than the 4.6 so regardless of the manifold that you use it will not line up.

Yeah, I thought of that right after I posted...was talking about it with my dad and that came up (the width of the motor causing the different angle). Thanks though!

So if I'm planning on buying headers, will regular 5.4l headers work with the Lightning motor? Or do I need headers made for a Lightning?

There is no difference between a regular 5.4 or a lightning 5.4 header.

if you have an 02 4.6, so it has COP, and a 5.4 donor, can you just use the 5.4 harness and computer for the swap? I have a donor and i was hopin id just need to change things like the stall converter and other little things without the need to splice? will it drop right in?

Nope. Your 4.6 PCM is programmed to work with the instrument cluster in your truck. The truck will not start using the 5.4 PCM.
