painted billet gas cap

This is the Ford Mustang billet aluminum gas cap. I painted it black and left the bolts aluminum.

Sorry for the dirty truck, winter is a b**** of a time to keep a black truck clean.

Looks really good! I was wondering how one would look on my Island Blue long bed and decided that with no other billet around it would look out of place. Great idea! Thanks for sharing it. Going to steal your idea . . . !

Any special tips on painting it?

Bob

No special tips. I took all the bolts and stuff off. Then primered and painted. I used 2 coats of each.

It should look real good with the Teal color.

The Ford Mustang cap that I have was ~$75 from the dealer. www.procarparts.com has one for $48 although it is polished aluminum. Doesn't matter much if your going to paint it.

Have fun!

Thumbs up

I am still dragging my feet on getting this done on my truck. No real reason, other than stereo mods taking all the money. That's the same thing I want to do with mine (when I finally get it) Paint it to match the existing body color. Good job, deep6blue!!!,,,,98

Arrow

My dealer quoted me about $120 for the exact same piece, I think I'll look around some more. My friend in Houston sells them for about $80-$85 but he hasn't stocked them lately.,,,,98

WOW, $120. that's just way to much.

I don't really know why, but the guy at the parts counter is just very friendly. He has been quoting and selling me stuff at the wholesale prices. Maybe it's a truck thing since he has an older Bronco. When I bought the fuel door he actually went outside to my truck with me to make sure it would fit.

Looks cool white is a hard color to keep clean as well but it is a easy color to see when you wash it and looks great when washed.
