An orbital buffer spins and wobbles on its axis at the same time. A rotary buffer just spins. I would suggest the orbital if you're not experienced with high speed buffers.

The orbital is for you. A rotary buffer, in general, creates swirl marks. For removing wax use soft cotton cloth.

Cyclo is the best brand name buffer for the regular ammuter to remove swril marks. EXPENSIVE.

Porter Cable makes a nice polisher too if the Cyclo is out of your price range. The Porter Cable does a good job too. Not too pricey.

I've got Porter Cable, and use Griot's #2 polish. I works for me!

On a daily driver like mine, you need the more agressive polish. their #3 polish is too fine.

Ive got a makita varible speed buffer, and use 3m perfectant compound and glaze , I buff alot and it has held up well my wifes dad has a small body shop . and i do all his finish work, most of the better clears i use only a foam pad, and just switch compounds, some clears get so hard you have to start with a wool pad, then foam. if you have the experience you will have no problem using a foam pad and glaze to get swirls out, I get them out of black all the time. start with 1200 or 1500 grit wet sand paper then go to 2000 then 3m perfectant compound then finish out with a foam pad and 3m perfectant glaze. then a good carnuba wax. oh almost forgot I keep a mist bottle of water with a little bit of car soap to keep friction down when im compounding, watch your edges, keep it movin, if your new go to a body shop and get a old door trunklid etc and practice. My 2cents is that orbitals are only good for wax.
