Angry Eagle One wheel cleaner.....factory wheels are white now?

Hey guys, I read this like maybe a week ago, I currently, well not anymore, Eagle One wheel cleaner on my 1999 F150 with the old style 17" Off Road aluminum wheels. This past week I noticed that there are blotches or stains of a white milky looking coating on my wheels! Whoa, though Eagle One was a good product. I was wondering if you guys use this product? I am calling Eagle One Monday morning and I will post a full report after the call in the 1-800 #.

ShowYa in Kansas City, I am getting new wheels, but this kinda makes me mad to think I take such good care of my truck and now the factory rims are stained for good looks like!

Happened on my wife's Thunderbird . . . got it off with cleaner/wax! Still use Eagle One, but I just spray it up and wash it off . . . never let it set for more than a few seconds.

two things...

Eagle One will tell you that you have tested on a hidden area first (liability excuse)

secondly, sounds like the clearcoat finish, not the aluminum, is what's damaged.

Did you use the right kind? There are several different ones, for rough cast, clearcoated, machined....etc.
How long did you leave it on...only takes about 30 sec. Did you rinse it off good?
They make good wheel cleaners, I have had good luck with them.

I called yesterday, was forwarded to Valvoline in Carlsbad, CA.

I spoke with a guy who ask for pictures, sent them, they called and I am suppose to take it to the dealer on Friday and let the service manager look at them again, they also ask for replacement cost, not even gonna go there almost $300 a rim, they suggested a good set of used, I refused that suggestion. Guess wait til Friday.

Hey Showya,
I have an idea! After eagle one pays for a new set of wheels, take the old ones and have them stripped and polished. I have thought about doing this myself but I do not have spare wheels nor the time to do it!!
I think that that would truely be a one of a kind set of wheels! Polish them to a mirrored shine!

Sorry about your rims... Anyway, you could have done a few things to have caused this. 1. Spraying the cleaner on a hot wheel. 2. Spraying the cleaner on a dry wheel. 3. Leaving the cleaner on for too long. 4. Used wrong kind of cleaner (too harsh). Usually the cause of the cloudy rims is the combo of 1 and 2. You can use a cleaner wax or a very light compound to remove the cloudiness from the wheels. I prefer the cleaner wax method.

It is the clearcoat on the wheels, you can't let it set too long before spraying it off, I usually let mine set for about 30 seconds, then I scrub them, then I rinse thoroughly to make sure it all gets off. Sorry about your wheels, main, I hope you get them shiny again!
