Thumbs up Acetoned/painted fender emblems!

I may be a little biased, but I think these look really sharp! What do you think? I stripped them down with acetone, then painted the letters/numbers with semigloss black paint. Enjoy,,,,,98

Thanks Flatlander,
I just thought up another brilliant idea for them, lol. Thinking of painting them body color, then paint the letters black again. I may finally shave them someday,,,,98

98Screamer - funny you posted this - I was thinking about doing this emblem in body color and leaving it like that so it would blend in. I do not care for the stock emblems and really wish Ford did not put holes in the fenders so I could shave 'em all!!! How did you prep the lettering so the paint would stick??

I didn't anything to them, maybe I should have? I just figured Ford didn't sand them, why should I have too They may peel, but I figure I'll do something again before that happens. I've got to find something to put under the F-150 part, the stock xlt stickers came off(Yes, they are stickers!)....98

I did use Krylon Rust Tough, best quality out there I've found.

Screamer, why not try puttin' a set from the '98 Nascar edition on it? They have the F-150 with the Triton V8 under that. Before you paint them, you should use an etching primer on them, lees chance of peeling off. Good luck.

Hmmm..I'll give it some thought. Maybe stripped, painted, and triton tagged.
I still have not done anything to the tailgate emblem yet, aside from putting one of my Triton badges under the F-150 part. Got to leave something for the Chevy guys to read(Not that they can),,,,98

Hey, copycat. I just acetoned an emblem for my tailgate yesterday. JK, LOL. I thought of doing the letters of mine in body color or even black just to create a reverse effect. Then a friend said he liked them better all chromed out and going that way is a lot easier than painting. I might have a graphics shop make me some new XLT stickers in blue.

98
I'm assuming you used a brush to paint the letters. How did the final finish come out? I tried to practice on an old one and had brush marks. You said Kylon so I'm also assuming you sprayed spray paint into a cup and dipped the brush in it.

Nope, taped them up by hand, then I sprayed them with the Krylon. I haven't noticed any peeling(whew) I still haven't done anything with the tailgate emblem, I guess I should complete the look. I got sidetracked with stereo upgrades lately,,,,,98
