Despite attempts to be resourceful with both the forum and Google, I still don't understand what Plasti-Dip is. Could someone please explain it to me? Is this stuff permanent? Is it glossy? If it's not permanent, is it durable? I am interested in painting to match my door handles and mirror caps, and if this stuff can do it without me having to remove the handles and caps, I'm interested in trying it. What is it exactly? Is it a respectable way to paint parts of the truck? I've seen lots of good looking finished results from it, but I don't really know how it's used. Thanks

EDIT: I did some more digging an came up with several threads about certain plasti-dip projects. None of them seem to go into much detail though.

Have you been to this site and met Fonzie?

https://www.dipyourcar.com/home.php

If not, The FAQ section should shed some light for you..

Haha, thank you! Apparently I've been living under a rock, because I'm just now hearing about this stuff.

Your truck is one of my favorites on here. Those PTM door handles and mirror caps are a really nice improvement on overall appearance. I plan to do the same with mine. The black may be more subtle, but I still think it will make a difference.

Thank you.. I would definatly go the PTM route if I were you, I think it would be a very nice upgrade.

I actually started out with new smooth Harley handles that I bought from Tasca.. I didn't feel like doing any sanding and I liked the thought of a new keypad. The mirror caps I removed myself and went over to my Ford dealer and had them spray everything for me. You can do the same thing or if you have the time and would like to sand everything down yourself you'd save a nice chunk of cash. Just get the painted done professionally. Also, be very careful removing the mirror glass, I have newer power folding mirrors and broke 2 mirror clips on my drivers side.. It cost me little over $140 for a replacement

i played with Plasti Dip today.. Did half my bumper.. Looks pretty good.. Going to get another can tomorrow.. Thinking about doing the rear bumper, front bumper, grill surround and possibly the running boards. If it dont look good then i will just peel it off.

There ya go, Coy.. Looks good..You can even spray a glossifier over the top of everything for a glossy/clear coat look. I've never tried it, I like the flat look myself but always wondered what it would look like.
