Tailgate Panel

Got bored this past weekend and made a cheap tailgate panel to hide all the dents and defects on my tailgate:

Not sure about it yet. I'll keep it on for a while and see if it grows on me. What do you all think?

I think it looks really good - matches the truck very well and makes it look like a special edition.

I kinda like it bro! Nice offset, gives it a feel I can't quite describe...was thinking sorta rally-like.

Anyway- nice work.

Thanks! The matte looks a lot better in person. It actually matches all my other matte pieces: bumper, door handles, etc

That looks really good, dare I ask for more info on how you made it? I've wanted a Saleen S331 Tailgate panel for like 5 years, and this is the closest that I have seen to one that's been custom made. Good job!

It does look good.. Nice job!

Is that Steve Saleen, Jack Roush or your signature on the panel?

It's easy! I sourced a local plastics supplier in Louisville. I had them cut it from 1/16" ABS black plastic using dimensions I gave them. Mine has a smooth back and a textured "hair cell" front which gives it a matte appearance. I used some shears to cut out the tailgate section and put some double sided tape around the perimeter of the panel and stuck it on. Cost about 60 bucks total. The trim around it is door edge trim which you can get from Autozone, Pepboys, etc. I've since took the door edge trim off because it kept slipping out of place.

Thanks! I've been wanting a Saleen panel for years. I don't now why Saleen doesn't make them anymore. They would make a fortune.

This panel looks awesome. I've been trying to wait for Saleen. I'm not sure if you would be interested, but would you consider building one to sell?
