Painted front & rear bumpers

I have a '08 Lariat Super-Crew 4x4, white with the Arizona Beige bumpers, trim & flares. The bumpers are starting to get chipped and some surface rust is starting to show up. I'd like to clean them up before it gets worse. I was thinking of sanding them down and using some Rock-coat on the bumpers and then repainting them the Arizona Beige color. Problem is I think the Rock-Coat ends up with a textured finish...not sure how textured bumper would look. Anyone else done this or anything similar?

Thanks!

I've painted the bumper of my truck (the rear anyway). I know it looks 100% better, the more prep work you do, the better it will look. Not sure about the textured finish.

This is a bit different, but I'm going this route. I've turned my '04 XLT into a much higher trim truck on the outside over the past 5 years. LT Handles, PTM mirror caps, Roush grille etc. My truck is unique and one of the only trucks this color I've ever seen in person that is modded this way. Where I have a sport truck/luxury look going, I'm going to buy an 04-05 chrome bumper (already bought OEM fogs a few years back) and do a PTM 3d Carbon chin spoiler and upgrade to an OEM Harley grille. I like two tone trucks and on the right color, ptm bumpers. You could always go to a chrome front bumper and do what I'm planning. The color matched splitter still gives you a nice look on the front end. The paint on the Ford's seems to always chip and rust. Plus I'm a bit of a chrome guy anyways. If you decide to stay with painted, I'd have it done at a good shop with strong prep work and get it protected my a clear bra of quality material. Something like a good 3M product.

Same exact problem on my truck, Mod600. I have an 07 two-tone lariat. Most shops around me have told me around 300 bucks to do it. TruckGuy, is there some sort of clear/transparent wrapping out there that would somewhat protect the paint? I want to say I've seen something like that 3M offers but have no idea what it would be called.

By the way, it looks like we have pretty much the same truck judging by your profile.

Llama Lariat07 yea your truck looks the same as mine. I'll end up re-doing mine myself at some point. I thought about getting a chrome bumper, but not sure how it'd look with the 2-tone paint already. I know my Dad used some Rock-Coat stuff when he re-painted his Ranger a while back, stuff was really tough. Just wondering how the textured finish would look. Probably wouldn't be any different than the guys that Line-X or Rhino-Line there bumpers, flares, etc. Mine isn't bad, but would like to get it fixed before it goes too far.

I thought about doing mine myself, my brother has a garage with everything I'd need to do it but I know a guy that does top-notch work. I'd look into the the 3M scotch guard that TruckGuy24 mentioned. It looks legit and there are some shops that will apply it for you by the looks of the website. The thought of powder coating the bumper had crossed my mind, but I don't think they can match that up with the beige. My front bumper isn't too bad, but I don't want to let the rust/rock chips get any worse. If it wasn't for the worst winter KY has ever seen I probably wouldn't be noticing it!
