Paint?
Paint?
So I'm guessing this is the right area for this but ive been thinking about painting my truck to a different f150 color. Nothing special or custom just the dark blue pearl metallic paint. So the question that comes up, has anyone repainted their truck entirely? And if so what was the cost? Yes, I do know shops and different areas have different prices, just wanna see what im looking at, price wise. Thanks.
probably outweighs the cost of just finding a new truck in the right color. a good quality paint job can cost well over 5 grand for a large vehicle, especially when you take into account trim removal, body work, painting the engine bay, and door jambs, etc...
I was looking at 600+ for just one side of my bed, and that's an easy place to tape and such.
A 3 stage with pearl around here is between 10 and 12.5 K. Depending on what you got and how long you plan on keeping it determines what you would be willing to spend on paint. Cheap work aint good and good work aint cheap.
If you have connections, you can get it cheap.
You have to ask around the people that you know if they know of a person who knows a person who knows a person.
In my case my brother has a friend that paints cars. His dad owns a shop...I will be getting mine for cheap. even cheaper if I remove all of the hardware but i have been a DIYer since i was born so i'm very mechanicly inclined to figure out things easy.
Here maaco does paint jobs for 500 bucks, but that fades quick...some people tell me the most important part it the clear coat...who knows.
My best advise if you want to save mula, take your time and do a lot of research.
if you have the time to practice, patience, plus a garage, you can paint it yourself in a year or two. You would just pay for the paint, compressor with water filter, sander, sand paper, and a spray gun. don't forget your sweat and tears and the reward you get after acomplishing something..

The prep has everything to do with a good or bad paint job. Maaco is a joke! Quality paint, and **** ton of prep. It is waaaayyy more work than most people think. Mine is getting painted now and you would be surprised at the amount of prep goes into a quality paint job.
Yea ive been asking around and one of my buddies has a friend whjo owns a collision and paint shop and he is getting his mustang painted for 500. At least i have a ballpark figure. Now just to look around town and see who does the best work at a decent price. Thanks guys.

like i said earlier, a 500 dollar paint job does not include pulling the motor so you can paint the engine bay etc... most of those 500 dollar paint jobs are resprays of the same color..
