2006 Lariat Refresh

I have an '06 Lariat that needs some help. I've owned it since new and kept up with maintenance mechanically, but the trucks looking old and faded now. It's been in the AZ sun for 7+ years. Luckily the paints ok, but all the black plastic is greyed out now. Since I'm going to keep it I need a refresh.

Here's the list so far:

Replace pickup box and tailgate molding
Replace rear bumper step pad
Replace cowl grills, seal and cowl ends
Replace all handles with Mark LT style handles
Replace Mirrors
Replace Shifter handle (lost the chrome top)
New front and back emblems

Probably want to do a Bedrug and Tonneau also.

Any recommendations on best prices for the OEM parts?

I've seen some aftermarket mirrors, door handles and emblems on eBay - cheaper than OEM. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Seem like everything I've tried on the plastic molding lasts about a couple days, then it's grey again. Is this stuff different?

Most of it will never be black without you painting it, even from factory because it comes in a dark grey. You might as well get a few cans of krylon and paint it all.

Grey might be the wrong color. I'm talking about the almost white sun baked looking like I just picked it up from the local scrap yard color. I guess painting can't hurt since I'm going to replace it - if it works save a few bucks. if not - no loss.

replacement trim parts

Some of the trim pieces you describe wanting to replace are now being sold separately. I suggest typing description of the part you need into a search engine and see how it goes. For restoring color to plastic I use back 2 black, and am also hearing good things about the most recent "as seen on TV" plastic restoration product. I want to paint my cowl with Krylon Fusion so don't have to keep applying dressing but I am afraid to remove to paint because with my mechanic skills I will not be able to re-install it correctly I think these model years 04-08 are one of the best Ford trucks ever and I wish you success with your restoration.

Remove these plastic pieces and have them paint matched. See my link below for a brief example.
