seat replacement

My seats are shot. 241,000 miles in my 2005 fx4. I live on the Outer Banks of NC and now use the truck for local driving, pulling the boat and driving on the beach. Any suggestion for best replacement? Go to a junk yard?

I was also thinking of pulling out carpet. With all of the sand its a pain. Should i just tear it out and paint with a soft boat deck paint?

Anyone done this work? Looking for a practical solution. Not a high end modification. thanks. Love my truck!

Not sure what your junk yard options are in NC, but Ford wanted $300 for the bottom portion of the seat, and I scored a whole seat from a JY for $150. Just used the seat off that to replace my driver's side. As far as the floor goes, I second 24 and say put the vinyl floor down. It's in my truck and it makes cleaning very easy. Can of Tuff Stuff, spray on, wait 30 seconds, wipe off...looks like new

Is the foam in your seat shot, or is it the fabric, or both? You can have the foam replaced pretty cheaply by an upholstery shop. But I do agree that the best option would be to get some seats out of a junkyard if it's more than the driver seat that needs fixin. And if you're stripping the interior down, getting the floor bedliner'd would be good. It would be tougher than anything else and protect it as well. Likely would never have to be redone either
