Are broken tabs on '09+ grille a problem?

Hi All,
Not sure if this is the correct forum for my question, but figured this would be the place to find people who have R&R'd the grille on an '09+.

I'm looking at buying a used grille, on which the seller states a couple of tabs were broken during removal but, in his words, "I did break off a few tabs (unavoidable) but honestly I don't know why they have them becasue it bolts on across the top which keeps it secure. "
I haven't seen the grille in person yet, but would of course before I buy. Does his statement about the tabs not serving a purpose hold water, or am I asking for trouble if it's missing tabs?

Also...anyone have hints on how to not break tabs during removal?

Thanks,
Mike

I completely agree, OEM is the way to go i was using the term aftermarket loosely. Sorry for any confusion but i meant instead of buying that grill he should look into other options and a HD is defintely one of them. OP, obviously you want to buy a qaulity product to me the grill you mentioned doesnt meet my personal quality standards, i would look elsewhere.

FordGunsMercia - He is offering this grille for $60, based on the broken tabs. Again, sellers assertion is that the tabs serve no significant purpose, as he said he replaced the OEM black with OEM chrome (one that also had broken tabs) and found no mounting or installation issues. I'm just seeking 3rd party independent opinions (hopefully based on personal experience) to support or refute his statement.

Acquiring a grille is part of my blackout effort and my first experiment will be to see how the Rustoleum black bedliner product works for this.

My Nissan truck had broken tabs that held the grill in and I just used tie-wraps to fasten it. They worked perfectly. I don't know if that would work on your grill or not but it's worth a try. YMMV!
