NCSU- can i get the code for the search thing you got in your sig? It would be really helpful to throw in a thread when some newbie decides to ask something that needs that for a reply.

Guess what !!..They are illegal in every state in the union !!! HID lamps are for "OFF ROAD USE ONLY", unless it was factory installed, or in a properly retrofitted projector housing, but nobody is enforcing this.

So the lights she has are illegal. That is good to know because I don't want to get anything that is illegal for my future truck.

The heads she has are fine, although not the best for output. The fogs are illegal to use on public roads (the HID bulbs) because of the glare issue. She might get away with using a 3000K hid bulb aimed way down. I did this for a while a few years ago with good results, they do still have a glare to them though. The HID light systems are good if fitted properly with a quality projector assembly, but this can get expensive although the kits are coming down in price for a DIY project. I for one don't want to be responsible for someone driving off the road and being injured or killed because of the bright glare of my lights.

Once you go above 6000K on HIDs, you lose valuable lumens.

IMO, stay around 4300K-5000K

3000K will give you a yellow (fog lamp) light. dirtyd88 is correct with the range of 4300-5000K, aimed down. Another tip that is useful...get the bulbs from "Retro-Solutions" and get the optional 'capping' service..this also cuts down on glare from the front tip of the bulb.....they won't be cheap, but it does help a lot. Just my $0.1.5 (inflation) http://www.retrosolutionsllc.com/ser...OAT-CAP/Detail
