What year truck do you have? Wheel size is a matter of personal opinion. Do you like lots of wheel and less rubber, or more rubber and less wheel?

How much $ are you looking to spend, larger wheels are more expensive and so are their corresponding tires.

I'm running 20s.

well if you are looking for more wheel less tire, I would prefer the toyo mt on 20's Thats going to put you a little over the 2000 mark but has a great look IMO. If you still would prefer the wheel size over the tire quality, go with 20's and a different mt to save a little and get closer to your 2000 mark. Mine are 35's on 17's

your budget will cover 35" m/t's only for 18"s or 20"s not even wheels.

17s with 33s, 18s with 35s, 20s with 37s+. My personal opinion of the perfect wheel/tire ratios.

My first set of aftermarket wheels and tires were 35's on 17's. I like having a little more rubber. Low profile tires defeats the purpose of having a lifted vehicle.

35's on 18's on my current truck.

33's on 20's on my last truck, also an 01, might help you a little.

A/T's will also probably be a little cheaper then M/T's. I got those 20's for $185 a piece, the 33in tires were more expensive.
