Tint-Match

I have a 2010 FX2 Black and I want to match as best as possible the back factory tint. I went to my local shop and they have Johonson Tint, it'll cost me $60.00. Any experiences with this brand? What should I ask? And the key questions is............ what %?

if they dont know, dont use them. most tint shops know what tint percentage matches the closest to factory rear which ranges from 15%-20%, but again they will know. If not dont use them.

Never heard of it here in va. Most tint films come in 50, 35, 20 & 5. The rears are 20%. Since the front is 75% from the factory, if you put 20 on the front they will technically be a tad darker, but not all that noticeable when you get to tint that dark.

And around here $60 is about the price of a tint job with low end tint. Just make sure you get tint that is guaranteed not to fade or crack, usually they come with a lifetime warranty versus a shorter like three to five year warranty. Mine did and was like 90 bucks I think for the fronts.

i used a 28% tint on my fronts with the lifetime warranty. i would say its a 96% match on the color. just a hair lighter than the rears. i'm sure the light soming in from the front windshield has something to do with that as well.

Double limo with 50% on the windshield. Looks best IMO.

oh yeah especially at night when its raining, i use to run it 5% on top of factory on my denali then one day I was backing up and almost hit something, so practically not smart but for looks yeah it was cool. I would just stick to matching rear I think its cleaner, cops wont harrass you as much.

actually...

you are 100% right.

Backing up and what not in a not so well lit area is not fun. however, i did my tint for privacy. I feel like my truck is... well... my "bubble". I dont want people to bother me in my bubble. i can do whatever i want in there at any time of the day and no one can see me. i love it. And im blessed to be in the "country" part of my area, cops dont bother us for tint.

Its not for everyone, you have to consider who, what, where etc.

Do 15% or 20& to get the closest match. Make sure its not reflective tint!!!

yeah factory tint is 18% so 15% matches best since the front lets in more light and the fronts will appear lighter

So it seems like its a toss up between 15 and 20??? So I am right back where I started. And yes it will be lifetime warranty. I have never used anything other then Lumar its just this shop is very convenient as I am basically at work all the time.

I did the tint on my truck. 15% matches the rear privacy glass pretty damn close.
