wax wash vs wax and best wax?

Lately I've been using armour all wash and wax to wash my dads truck and my own. It does work pretty well and they shine pretty good after a wash, but im wondering if it would be alot more beneficial to actually wax after. I don't think the wash wax actually waxes it, more of a soap then anything.

A friend of mine told me I should use turtle wax, anybody have a brand they swear by? Also ill be putting it on by hand, and I do have a shady place to wax the trucks. So any good reviews on a certain wax to make them really shine would be awesome.

wash/wax?

I have used numerous wash and wax combo's over the years and I have found that Turtle Wax ICE Car Wash works well when using hard water.

I am currently using Meguiar's Clay Bar Kit, Scratch X and NXT 2.0 Synthetic Wax. A good cleaner wax on a daily driver would be Meguiar's (red bottle) Cleaner Wax or Color X.

Always wash and dry in the shade if at all possible...

I usually take it to the do it yourself car wash (real nice and always clean) and then while drying my truck I use a wax as you dry spray on wax from Turtle wax. It keeps a nice shine on the vehicle for inbetween regular waxes. A wash as you wax or a wax as you dry isn't a true wax job IMO.

car shine carolina is the best wash i have ever encountered. its rather pricey for car soap, but it leaves a way better shine than any wash/wax combo out there. My best runs a detail shop locally and ive learned my ways from him and others. Armour all is a big NO NO for any product. If you are unable to locate the Carolina (as i think it is only distributed in bulk to dealerships and detail shops) go get Turtle wax soap or the combo. they are relatively inexpensive and have a high caranuba content. and to make life easier so you dont have to wax, pick up a bottle of quick detailer, a wizards wipe and shine or meguires quick detailer. they work well and give you that freshly waxed look between washes as well as bead rain off without leaving spots. you just spray it directly on the vehicle, wipe with a microfiber and buff with a dry microfiber.

Are you talking about hard paste waxing after EVERY wash? Sheesh, you must have some time on your hands.

Once per year, I use a silicon based liquid polish/wax. Finish 2000 is one brand of many. They claim one year water beading and I can tell you its true.

Try using a spray wax, should give you better results than the car wash/wax combo's and be faster than a standard wax job. In the winter, I wash my truck with Optimum No Rinse and before I dry the truck, spray with Optimum Spray Wax and dry each panel accordingly. Excellent shine and about 3 week durability. These are the only Optimum products I use out of dozen's of other brands so don't believe I'm on their bandwagon.

Meguiars Ultimate wash & wash is probably the best stuff I've used to wash my truck followed by NXT 2.0 and you got a winner

I use Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo, Meguiars Clay Bar Kit, and Meguiars Gold Class Wax. It seems to be pretty good stuff.
