Carbon Fiber interior. Tacky or not?
Carbon Fiber interior. Tacky or not?
I guess more or less I'm just running out of ideas to do to my truck. Then after installing new Pioneer speakers, I was trying to think up some other small things I could do to the interior to change it up a little bit.
Found THIS place that sells carbon fiber film. Ordered the small sheet for a sample. Thinking about putting it down the center dash and maybe the 2 strips at each end of the dash. Just can't decide if it'll look good or not.
Thought? Anybody else ever use this stuff before? Better yet, anybody have pics of carbon fiber on their trucks?

I have an actual dash kit, I like it, but I want more of a flush look, so I'm thinking about getting this:

I plan to cover a lot of the same pieces the dash kit is covering.

. Let me know if you get some and how it looks
.Thanks for the link, ELVATO.
i think the carbon fiber look pretty cool. mine came with some panels that i like (not carbon fiber but similar), i'll throw up a pic tomorrow. theyre just a kinda simple pattern that doesn't attract too much attention.
I like the look of the film way better than what I have in my truck. Wanted to dress up my interior since the old body style is pretty plain jane. Made the mistake of getting one of those "carbon fiber" dash kits. I hate it. I'm planning to pull it off and just paint the dash pieces. I don't really want to paint all the pieces its covering, but I'm not sure how much damage will be done to the plastic when I remove it.

Im 24 years old and coming out of my ricer phase.... so carbon fiber is one thing that ive personally seen enough of, that stuff real or not is in my opinion a very "orange car with loud exhaust" thing.... not to be discouraging but maby not quite meant for a truck... The FX2 I have now has a CF-ish looking finish with a subdued patter on it factory, so I kinda get what it would look like.... have you ever considered a piano black glossy finish, like some of the higher lever Ford trims have nowadays....
Got the sample piece I ordered in the mail today. It's actually pretty cool, looks really good. But such a small piece it's still kinda hard to picture how it would look on the dash.
Look forward to the pics, melen.

If you get anything with carbon fiber it needs to be real. I have only seen one or two carbon fiber examples that looked cool. One was a porsche with the entire body black carbon fiber. Beautiful car as it was going around a track(one of the few porsches that truely impressed me). I wished I had gotten a good picture to post.
I saw a real carbon fiber cover for some Ipod(touch maybe?) and it had actually saved the phone from getting broken a few times.
Otherwise I think it is kinda tacky, but go ahead and send the money over here, I can find a good use for it.

you can also try something called neffywrap. http://neffywrap.com/index.php?main_...&products_id=1
it's inexpensive and i've seen it turn out really well on a lot of interior pieces.
however, that carbonfiberfilm looks really good too.

I was just thinking (unbelievable right?
) but the carbon fiber look is usually a ricer look. You could think about using a diamond plate type theme because that is more of a "truck" look.
