Since window tinting is the subject here, when a percentage is stated is that how light the tint is or how dark? Also, what is the % of the factory tint on the rear doors & window?

I would like to have darker tinted front door windows to save on the interior, but IA has a window tint law. May have to look to see what is legal.

Thanks

Seems Iowa is rather restrictive, with 70%.

The percentage is how much light it lets through. It think it's something like Visible Light Transmitted?

Factory is 18%.

EDIT: From the link above, under Iowa:
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Iowa, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

For the front windows:
Must allow more than 70% of light in.

with that being said (which is correct)... what is 5% over 5%. it wouldnt be 2.5% because that is 50% of 5%. .05 (which is the equilvalnt to 5%) times .05 equals 0.000125.

basically

.05 x .05 = 0.000125.

is that right? I have double limo and have always been curious.

Thanks!! May as well not have anything if it needs to let through 70%.

yea if you have 5% over 5% you have 5% of 5% tint which is going to be less than 1%.....or very dark as I'm sure you are aware
