Well I finally did some 'work' to one of the tails. Strategic sanding off of the tint in order for the light and reflector surfaces to be seen easily, greatly lessening my chanced of getting a ticket. Still need to get them buffed and re-cleared.

I don't know, I'm beginning to think they don't look so good. :o

Yeah, they were way too dark. If I had known they were that dark when I bought them I probably wouldn't have bought them. I may just have to sand the whole thing and lightly re-tint them. Not very pleased with the result. :o

Maybe they'll look better after they've been cleared and buffed. Maybe a really light coat of tint on the lens?

Yeah, looked pretty bad.

I sanded the one all the way down except for the edge periphery. Going to start over with them. Good thing there's good tinting how to's here.

Ok, another idea. I think I'm going to wet sand all the paint off them and plast-x them back to glossy. Then I'm going to split them open and do them like the Harley tails are inside, paint black where there are no reflective areas. I think this will look good.

I'd use a hair dryer or heat gun on the edges to crack them open. No oven.

I have Hella tails on my black truck but I have no plans to smoke them at all, I like the look already. I also want to try to keep my truck looking nice but not to modded & tinting the tails would not do that. I also drive quite a bit at night & in bad weather I would prefer to get the max out of the tails.

Well, I just sanded and polished the tail with Mother's headlight restoration kit. I think It looks pretty good. Leaving it as is. Just need to do the other.
