I got mine from Retro Solutions in 8000k and couldn't be happier. There is a little bit of blue in the light but not so much that it really draws attention from others. 6000k is better for visibility especially in foul weather at night -- the more blue in the light the harder it is to see.

I ordered my 55w 8k's recently, from what I've seen 8k's look better.

I don't know about RetroSolution kit, but if they are anything like my DDM kits, they won't be hard to install at all.

Screw that!

Run 12K, remove the little shield from the housing, and run with the high beams on continuously.

Nope I have the 35w kit and the visibility is still much better than halogens except when it's raining at night. Even with the little bit of blue tint that is in them the foul weather visibility is cut down to just about what it was with halogens. If I were to do it over I would go with the 55w 8000k kit.

did you have 35w or 55w? 55w 8k is the 6k 35w (color wise)

and what was different?

If you want more usable light go with the 6K...

If you want more of the blue or purple look go with 8K and up...

The higher the number the deeper the color but the less usable the light.

I just put 6K's in my truck a week ago and am very happy with them...

But you may want to also think about projector housings to go with them.
And tilting your heads down a bit...

There so bright I get flashed a bit more then normal...

Hey wait that should be a good thing...
