Smile DDM Tuning. Slim Vs. Raptor

UPDATE See page 3 post 34 for final installation and output pictures.

I am about to order HIDS for my truck. I need the headlights and the square fogs. I am going to get 35w 5k for the fogs and 55w 5k Hi/Lo for my heads. My question is is that they have the slim kit for 40 bucks more. Is it really worth 40 dollars to get a "smaller" ballast? I mean its 3/8 of an inch. Are they both fully digital? Thanks!

There's been a lot of discussion about the DDMTuning HID kits.

Yes, they are fully digital.

You know my answer.

Just an FYI: I just looked and the 35w Raptor kit is on backorder and the 55w DDM kit is on backorder. Looks like it will be ~2 weeks (according to them) and they are taking preorders. So you'll have to wait on either one, regardless, if you go 35w fogs and 55w heads.

You could go 55w both or 35w both to save the backorder time.

I am going to do the slims just to save the space and I am going to do the same thing you are saying. Yeah I can save $40 by going to the raptors, but going to do the slims.

So you think that it would be worth saving that much room to spend 40? I mean moneys tight right now. lol I just want to make for dang sure. I don't really care about the delay. I just want to get them ordered while they are on sale!

heres a pic i took of my DDM slim ballast.
IMO they are much higher quality that regular ballasts, and its really amazing how small they actually are.

im needing to replace the HIDs in my headlights (theyre a cheap no-name kit) and i will be ordering another slim-ballast kit

So you've noticed a difference in quality?

Alright thanks guys. I think i'm going to get the Raptors as I can't see myself spending an extra $40 to get a smaller version.

Just to let you know, if you got with a 55w in the heads and a 35w in the fogs ofthe same color, the fog lights will be more blue than the headlights. Either get 35w for both or step down a color temp on the fogs. a 55 kit will create too much heat inside the foglight housing. That has been discussed before.

I have a 55w 5000k set in my headlights and a 35w 4500k in my fog lights, and the fogs still have a slight blue tint to them compared to my heads.

55w 6000k would be wat then?

6000k vs 8000k in 55w would be better visibility with a hint of blue? wat temp are the xenons that are in the BMWs and Lexus's?

I read somewhere on here about a member that got 6k 55w heads with 5k 35w fogs and his were off from being the same color. Mblour has 5k in both with 55 and 35 and his match almost perfectly he said?
