bolt over vs replacement grills

Forgive me for being long winded as its 318 am and I feel the need to type alot.

I have recently purchased some new lights and chrome accessories for my truck but forgot about the center piece of the truck which people will notice the most while driving down the road. During the day, the front end, more respectively, the grill, is something that can make or break the look of a truck. I have recently started searching for several new billet grill options and have most recently come across the decision of bolt over vs replacement grills.

My black 2005 XLT has had some accessories put on the front end, a new chrome bull bar courtesy of Outland and some new black Halo headlights. I am trying to make the chrome pop, not over run the color scheme of the truck.

I have decided upon a horizontal billet style, but run across the question, powder black or chrome? Bolt over or replacement? Also, should I search for a chrome shell to accent my front end more? Cover the Ford emblem or no?

My thoughts thus far are to purchase a chrome shell and a powder black horizontal bolt over replacement grill. Does anyone think this will look ok? Will it look bad?

Here is what it might look like, but you will have to visualize smaller tires and horizontal billet grill not mesh.

If anyone has seen this styling before or just can visualize better than I can, please let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions for products. I like the look of the Trex powder black billet grill.

Replacement over bolt-over. It looks cheap when you can see the stock grille underneath. I'd just get the Roush COP grille. It's horizontal bars, and decently cheap. Not sure I'd go for the chrome grille surround.

Is the picture in your siggy what your truck looks like right now?

Completely go with replacement, it IMO just looks cheap and like crap when you can see the old grill thru the new one. Really not that much more work to cut it out and put a replacment one on

It's a lot more work but replacemnet grilles look much better than bolt overs. I did a bolt over first and hated it every day until I did the replacemnet. I just wasted money IMHO.

Bolt overs look and are cheap. Like already said go with a Roush Chrome over Plastic grille. They can be found on ebay. Search Roush grille.

Member Fomoco466 also makes and sells Roush lower grilles to match. Here's his eBay auction. He can also sell the upper Roush grille as a package. Just contact him here with a PM or email with any inquiries.

I have a bolt over...I painted my entire grill including bolt over black though.

I would rather have a Saleen or Roush grill. I really dig the Roush grills painted black
