DDm HID Question

I am gonna install a 55w bi-xenon kit for my heads today, and after reviewing this instructions, I have a question. The kit gets it's hi-low signal from the factory headlight connector, which has three wires, black, dark green/orange,and light green/black. The kit has an empty headlight plug and three wires to go into it, black, red, and white. I'm assuming it's black to black, but I'm not sure where the red and white should go. Does it matter? I would guess if it did, the instructions would say, but I want to be sure, so I don't fry my new HID's. Any advice?

i thought the ddm kit was just plug and play?

on my kit from xenonlink there was a very small wire with a plug no bigger than a telephone line's coming from the wires plugged into the stock connection, then the opposite plug for it was attached to the bulb. that's what controlled the hi/lo beams for mine.

My DDM kit was plug and play...you shouldn't have to do any wiring. Unless it's different for the 97-03 models?

This kits has a black box controller for the hi/low switching,it connects to each ballast and does have a tiny two wire connection to each bulb, red and black battery leads, and a 3 wire connection to the factory headlight connector on one side of the truck. The wires have bladed ends crimped on, and a empty headlight connector, so I am assuming the leads go into the connector, but not sure which matches to which.Pretty sure it would be black to black, but not sure of the other two.

Update: I had to pick a way to connect, so it was red to lt grn/org and white to lt grn/blk. Seems to work on both hi and low.Way brighter in daylight than the stockers. After I have lunch with the wife, I'm gonna do my fogs with 35w kits. I didn't think to get any "before" pics, but I'll try some "after" pics tonight.

oh cool. glad you got it all worked out. yeah sometimes the best method is just trial and error but it can get kind of iffy when doing it with electrical stuff.

I have 6000k in both heads and fogs. Can't wait till it's dark. Good thing that this time of year it's dark around 5:15pm.

Update #2: Well they all light up, but the headlight bulb in the passenger side is very sloppy. The bulb itself is loose, allowing it to bounce and vibrate with the road conditions.Looks terrible, and upon close inspection, it looks like the long, ceramic rod running along the side of the bulb is cracked.Maybe thats the reason for the shaking? Anyone here ever seen this?

on my bulbs that rod is metal so idk about the cracking. did you use the little foam cushion thing when you put the bulbs in?

Update #3: Well the loose bulb is not too bad on the road, but definitely noticeable, and I think I have the hi-low switch backwards. When my headlight switch is set to low, the bulbs are pointed up, and when I switch to Hi beams, the bulbs point downward. So I guess I'll switch around the two wires and try it again tomorrow. I think I'll have to get a new bulb, though.

the cushion i was talking about is the little wash made of foam that comes on the hids. the factory bulbs have a red rubber one i believe, they are on the 04-08's, i think they put it there to dampen vibrations.

yeah it's probably just the two wires that need to be switched for the hi/lo problem. if that doesn't work though check to make sure that the bulb is right side up. the ceramic rod should be facing towards the ground when installed.

Thanks Dillon, I went out and checked, mine are indeed upside down. I'll flip 'em over in the morning and try that first. My HID's didn't come with a cushion washer, and there was none on the factory bulbs, either.

So I flipped around the bulbs first, but they still functioned backwards, so I reversed the red and white wires so they were connected red to lt grn/blk and white to lt grn/org and now they work properly. The hi beam pulls the bulb inward and low beam is fully out. Now I just need to align 'em tonight and I'll be done. Thanks guys for all the advice, you really helped me add to my rig.
