4x4 Decal Removal

Is there any good way to safely remove the 4x4 decal on both sides of the bed?

Did it leave any hard to remove residue or any discoloration in the paint from where the decal was at?

i did not have any discoloartion... Soon as I took them off I used some windex and wiped everything off and you could BARELY see where they were, but I put a different ones on so you cant even tell. Depends on what year your truck is and what its been through probably. Mine is an 05... nothing a little buffing could probably take out...

And I did have a small amount of residue left... less than a square inch total... just heat up the decals really well... and slowly peel, and use hair dryer as your as you peel... and The residue came off pretty easy with finger

I took my decals off the only thing I used was a hair dryer just don't over heat the decals and make sure the decal dosent have any clear cost over it
I didn't have any residue that stayed it will come off after a good clean job

I have a pair of FX4 decals that I got for like 35 bucks on eBay

I removed my FX4 decals with just a hair dryer and my fingers. I heated up the edge where I started and applied heat towards the middle of the decal. I pulled slowly from one side and continued to heat up the remaining part of the sticker as I went. It only took about 2 minutes per side and there was no visible residue. I cleaned the area with windex and a cloth diaper right afterwards. You cannot see where the stickers were unless you are washing the truck because the water shows an outline of the old decal until the truck is dried. That should go away when I wax over the area for the first time.

I bought new Flat Black FX4 decals from Patriot, but I like the clean look of the truck, so I have not installed them yet.

I just took mine off not long ago

You shouldn't have any serious residue left behind but if you do goo gone should clear it up, and if it's still being fiesty an eraser wheel will make it disappear in about 30 seconds.

In the direct sunlight you could see a slight discoloration from the decals, some polishing compound and about 60 seconds of my time makes it disappear tho

you can use a razorblade. you may think it'll scratch the paint but if you keep it at about a 20 degree angle to the body of your truck and go slow then it wont. after you get any sticker off with the razorblade dip a rag or paper towel in paint thinner and rub it until the gum comes off. or buy a can of gum remover. i know you may think i'm crazy for saying razorblade but i work in the detailing shop of my local ford dealership and i was trained on what I said. It recently got the award for selling the most 2009 f-150's the week they were released. So i'm pretty proud about it

hey man, how did you do your custom decals... I put my custom ones on the other weekend... and the way I have them... (flat black outline/ DSG Paint showing in middle) you can only see the decal from some angles.. others it makes the truck look clean... got pics in gallery if you want to look..

First thing I did when I got home with my new FX4 was remove the decals. I think it look way better without all the clutter.

I love that dark gray color. Looks good.

The decals use Flat Black for the FX4 letters and Flat Black outline with DSG letters for the words "Dark Shadow" underneath. I like the way they look, but I have not decided if I am going to put them on my truck.

I like your idea of outlining all the words with black and I think it looks good on your truck.
