Grille insert can i paint?

I have a polished aluminum grille insert.

I would like to rattle can it black. Would i need to sand, etc before painting?

Only need it to last 2-6 months til i figure out what grille i really want.

Regular spray paint will chip in 2 weeks! I painted my wifes chrome civic grille w/ krylon fusion and before i redid it it looked like glitter paint! I went and bought some duplicolor bedliner spray paint ($9) and havent had a problem yet. Looks killer to Just scuff it up with some 600 grit and spray 3-4 coats on

the answer to all of your questions are yes... autozone, o'reliey, and walmart sell it.. and its in a spray can (its supposed to be for touching up bed liner).. or they sell roll on kits.

Hey i have two coats on already. How long til its dry enough to install on truck.

There is a chance of rain here today. I do not want it running on my truck,

Once again thanks for the help... this stuff is great.

Might think about getting a roush grille now, sanding it and using this stuff. How is washing it? Is it hard to gets bugs guts off of?

Yah i used the duplicolor bed liner.

It came out looking pretty good. The only problem is it is a grille insert (bolt over) and you can totaly see the honeycomb behind it.

Lets just say i do not like it.

That stuff works great though.

Think i will just wait and order my fx2 or roush grill. What do you suggest on painting either of these grills? You think this will work, or should i use on of there other paints?

I believe they have plastic bumper paint, etc.

Thank you both for your help.

oh, i didnt realize it was an insert, i thought you were painting the actual grill..
and yes they do make paint for plastic... (krylon fusion) it works pretty good.. there is a guy on here that painted his grill with the stuff and he didnt prime it or clearcoat it... its been over a year since he has done it, and has seen no chipping or fading whatsoever...
