Niteshades..

So I have the clear euro tails on my truck and I really don't like them so I attempted to paint them using niteshades. I started on them tonight, but they came out pretty dark so I want to wet sand them down until they lighten up then I'll put a bunch of coats of clear. The reason for not doing my factory tails is b/c I had cracked one of them due to a mailbox. So my question for you all that have smoked out tails is, do they all have a hazy look when you turn your lights on due to the type of paint of did I just do that bad of a job? Hopefully once I lighten them up they're not as bad. If they end up not coming out good it's ok, b/c I didn't like the ones I have and there's not many people who would buy them. lol

If you didn't clear coat/wet sand them, they're bound to turn hazy. Wet sand in between the layers of clear, and they should come out better.

Wouldnt that defeat the purpose of clearing them? I always put an extra coat on since the wet sanding will take off one layer.

Not sure. I was just following one of the writeups, and mine came out pretty good. If you can get the same results without wet sanding, that would make things a little easier.

i can see wetsanding the clear is you see a blemish in the clear, but if there is no you can get the orange peel out at the end. just make sure you have enough clear on there, 3 coats should be good . then wetsand 800-1000-1500-2000 and then some scratch remover and buff em out, should look like glass when your done.

Well I don't think I applied the Niteshades on right. It's only hazy when the bulb is lit up just in that area. When I applied the Niteshades I did 3 coats, but think one of them was to heavy of a coat which cause 2 or 3 fish eyes in each light. I didn't relize until after that the paint will level out on its own. At first it looked rough then after sitting it smoothed out. I tried Krylon clear, but even after 5 coats it was dull. I used the Dupli color and worked great. I have to wetsand them again and reclear them b/c they have a few pieces of trash. Needless to say I'll either order some lights off of ebay or strip the Niteshades off and try to redo it now that I know the correct way.

The smoked ones may be to dark and clash with the red just as bad as the chrome did with the ones I have. I may need to go with a light that has the back area black and a tinted lense.

The Harley's were another thought. I recleared the lights last night, but when I woke up this morning one was still dull and needed another coat. I put the other one on to see what it would look like. It doesn't look to bad, but I'm still not sure. I'll try to get pic's as soon as I get them both done to see what everyone's opinion is.
