Amp Power Step Durability

I've been looking really hard at these steps for quite a while. I've heard that they aren't very durable (pics I've seen seem to back up this claim). Can I get any first-hand accounts as to the validity of this statement? I'm sure they'll hold up fine for daily driving street use but how will they do offroad? I don't go often but $800 is still too much to ruin. (If I wind up in deep mud, when I open my door to get out will they burn out trying to open into the mud?) Any thoughts?

I have had mine on for close to a year with no problems. I have never seen any negative comments about them.

I agree. I have seen all good comments about them so far. I believe one comment about the actual thing you are worried about. And how well they worked. Where have you seen the negative comments?

Well, it was sort of a he said she said thing. I've got a friend who's got a friend that has them. And according to MY friend, they were flimsy. That's why I'm looking for some first-hand info on them.

I spoke to the owner of that website that's linked and he told me he's had them on for 4 years with only one problem (they were a guinea pig for these steps when they first came out). He said that were the wiring connects to the steps there's a junction box with a lid that's not sealed very well from the factory. It filled up with water once and the steps started going up and down while he was driving. He took some black rvt sealant and resealed them and they have been good since. Call him, he seems very knowledgeable.

I'm looking hard at these things too.

i have had zero problems with any part of them... I can jump up and down on mine and they wont break. They have been covered in ice and snow and still gone up and down with no hesitation. The ice has caked up on them and they still function. Road salt has had zero effect on them, the wiring is super easy to install. Its all plug and play except tapping into the 4 wires in the door jam and they provide t connectors for that you just squeeze on. They have a VERY small amount of flex in them, but i have had mine for over a year with ZERO problems. You would really really REALLY have to beat the hell out of these things to break them...

Guess I've heard enough. Now is as good a time as any, especially since it seems like you can't beat 800 bucks for these things. Thanks everyone.
