Does anyone use a bugshield? I really saw
When installed it simply is clamped into place between the surround and the hood. No need to remove any bolts or nuts but you do have to loosen them significantly. Takes about 10 minutes.
Barrett: I had that same shield on mine (see my earlier post here). Removing it is simple. First loosen the four bolts on the two arms that support the grille frame/surround under the hood on each side. Then look along the leading edge of the hood where it meets the grille. You'll find 6 small nuts there. Loosen these. Doing this open a gap between the grille surround and the hood and the bug shield should simply slip right out.

I think it looks nice on my truck, but thats m y opinon.
I was about 10 car lengths behind a dump truck on the highway when a rock dropped off the back, bounced once on the road and then hit my bug shield. The shield deflected the rock up and over the top of the truck. I know the circumstances had to have been just right for that to happen like it did but it saved me from one hell of a dent/scratch on my hood. I also like the looks of them.
In practice, sufficiently cleaning/polishing behind the shield is next to impossible. So eventually, your finish will degrade; just more evenly than if you have bugs or the random chip.
I keep the front waxed and polished more frequently than the rest of the truck, using armor all polishing wipes on bug splats in between. I can usually use a little spit and a thumb nail to easily remove bugs and tar. A chip is one thing, but there's no excuse for leaving bugs on the paint. Now if I lived in central fl, I'd probably have one. Otherwise I think they're tacky, but that's pure opinion.

The bug sheild is suppose to direct the air flow up and over the hood and wind shield some. I put it on mine as soon as i bought it and have had it for almost a year with out any scratches, nicks or damage to hood. As far as the wind shield it doesnt deflect the wind enough but the hood it saved. My wifes expedition we had a few years with out and had nicks and everything on hood but with bug sheild it hasnt had any more. So ide say it saves your hood not your wind sheild.

I like the way bug shields look. I especially don't like the newer F-150's without them. I think they look kind of weird without them. I took mine off for about 5 minutes and thought it looked hideous so it went right back on.
I commute and our interstate is like a gravel road, I don't have one for the bugs, I have one to stop paint chips on my aluminum hood. I have no issues with mine other than the wind whistle around 72mph, its a weathertech©
I think they are important to have. Every vehicle my family has ever owned has had one. I think the neutral smoked ones look the best. Why bother messing up your nice hood? Although when I do my custom hood in the future, I'll have to figure something out cause it would look silly with a bug deflector

I had taken my bugshield off, that I'd had installed for about three years, but I'm putting it back on today since I found a pretty big scratch on the hood right behind the area that the bugshield would have protected the most.
Up to this point, my hood was free of any scratches.....
