Smoked out taillights and the cops

Alright guys I love the look of smoked out tails on our trucks but have any of yall had any problems with cops with them? I was looking into getting the AVS smoke covers they jst fit over your stock taillight with 3M adhesive tape.. That way if I get pulled over I can just peel the plastic cover off.

mine are pretty dark, you can barely see the reflector...that's what cops look for here in Louisiana. i also added one of those line of fire led bars under my tailgate, but i wired it toward it only comes on when i signal and brake (so it doesnt work as a running light), just for added safety, i don't really care for the look. i made a how-to on how to smoke them with niteshades if you want to go that way

Never had issues in Houston and mine are pretty dark. I got pulled over by a trooper for window tint and he did not even mention the tails and they were the ones jjntj2003 had on his truck above. But I think it will also depend on what your are doing and how the officer feels.

i have too gotten pulled over and the cop didn't say anything, but he also didn't saying anything about the straight pipes, window tint, tires sticking out too far, he was a cool guy and didn't even give me a warning. on the other hand, it's just a good reason to get pulled over. the best way is to do what blackf150337 did, then you got your bases cover for the cops and in case of an accident (rear ended)

Im right down the road in GA...Ive been pulled over twice and neither one said anything bout my tails. You should be fine. Mine have 3 light coats of niteshades and 3 coats of clear. During the day it still has a slight redish look to them

You'll be alright as long as you dont have a bumper sticker saying "F the pigs". One of my idiot friends wrote that into his dirt/salt spot on his car and got pulled over

tx state inspection requires a two visable reflectors for 200 feet, and nothing applied to the lense of the light. That being said, I plan to do smoked tails eventually, just havent gotten around to getting them done.

Ive been pulled over before actually i think 3 times (all at night) and the cops didnt say anything about my past legal window tint. Its all about being smart about it, rolling down the windows before they get out of their car, and being polite, dont hide anything and they will go a long way.

Plus im a state inspector, so i dont have to worry 'bout that :o

Ha man you'd be right there, too, if you ptm your bumpers. I recently reacquired a bit of chrome with the new wheels, but it gives a nice pop.

I'm jealous of yours, man...I'm saving up for a lift now.

Smoked out taillight

I am a truck driver and I absolutely hate smoked out taillights. Yes they look good, but it is hard to see when the brake lights or turn signals come on. I think you are just asking for somebody to hit you and mess up your nice ride. but that is just my opinion.
